I'm finally back on here after an all day power outage due to a huge building fire near my house. It destroyed a familiar landmark here in Penn Hills. It was a bar called Hippo's, but the building was the oldest building here, dating to about 1907. the fire was so intense that it burned through several power lines causing the outage. Nobody was injured, but the building was a total loss. The area looks funny without that building there.

Phred, I could have walked to Hippos from my house. It's weird not to see it standing. I drove by the site this afternoon and the shell has been taken down.

David, could you see the smoke from the fire, at the time? It is so sad, we haven't got much "history" in this country as in Europe, and then an old building (by our standards) goes up in flames.

Freedom, my house is on sort of on a hill above Hippo's. There's some trees in the way, but I could still see a lot of smoke.
