I'm kinda late on posting this cause it happened last week :p

But anyhow........A fellow firefighter died last week when returning to the station from a gas grill fire in big flats (near me).

He went off the road when coming down a hill and the truck rolled ejecting him.

I have some pictures from the funeral that I can post here if it's okay with karen.....It's mostly fire trucks from the past depts where he worked at.

I am so sorry about your friend and fellow FF. A FF's funeral is one of the most gut wrenching things to go through.

My late friend, John Bertolini, who instilled in me that women can also be FFs and Auxiliary State Troopers, died after fighting a fire. He was a Lieutenant with the East Haddam Volunteer Fire Department. He was only 48 and left a wife and 3 daughters. They transported his casket on the back of an antique firetruck. The last transmission was something that didn't leave a dry eye in the house. "Lt. Bertolini, Badge # is now off the air.

I will NEVER forget this man. He had a huge impact in my life. He gave me the courage to become a volunteer FF, Paramedic and an Auxiliary State Trooper and attended each of my graduations. I've got LES just thinking of him.

Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

Donna
