It was a horrible crime, two lives lost & the husband on trial. The trial
just ended and it's gone to the jury now. I think the guy's guilty as sin.
His actions after the deaths are so strange & unbelieveable.

I remember hearing about it and thinking that he was probably guilty. Has the trial been on Court TV? Several months ago my cable company removed Court TV from my cable.:mad: I used to love that channel for the trials and also Forensic Files.

Speaking from a married persons perspective, I'd be frantic. I sure wouldn't take the time to get plane tickets out of the country without telling anyone what happened. Did they figure out if he bought the tickets before he found his wife and child dead?
Thats the first question I'd be asking if I were a jurror.
Strange behavior indeed. Even if he didn't kill them, he for sure had to know SOMETHING was going on if their relationship was as close as the defense makes it out to be.

Yes, it is local to us, so has been in the news a lot, and terribly sad.

I read a few other stories linked to this one, about the case.

Sad to say...I think he is guilty. Murderers usually attend the funerals of their victims, so it's odd he didn't.

While things could have happened the way the defense said, it seems unlikely.

In the 5 person murder-suicide recently in Calgary, the husband who killed himself had been studying hard for architectural finals while working full time. His wife, a physiotherapist, had become a stay-at-home mom for their three girls. A rumour - which I have not been able to verify - was that the wife was pregnant again.

In this case, the husband was carrying a heavy mortgage, and said his wife was spending a lot of money on redecorating. I think he got worn down and cracked, badly.

Is stress a reason to kill your family? NO, abosolutely not. However, if a person has a mental illness lurking in their system, stress will bring it out.

I have a sad feeling that Western Society's view of the husband as the major breadwinner and financial support does nothing to help situations such as these - even when the husbands don't hurt anyone. It's too much for one person.

But where does a husband go for help? How does he say this traditional position is killing him without losing respect and being called a wimp?

Prayers for all that are hurting in this case.

I wonder how the gun got back to the FIL's house! How did she shoot herself in the head, then return the gun and end up in her bed dead UNDER a comforter? I don't see her in a state of depression snuggeling with the baby that caused that depression when she killed the baby or herself either. Was there any testimony of her even being depressed?

However... Could you imagine finding your wife and baby dead and being charged with their murder and being innocent?

There are just to many things that do not add up. I just hope they didn't bring him to trial to soon and him get off free from lack of evidence and evidence comes out later that proves he DID do it.

I could see her throwing up her hands in defense as he shot her and that be how she got gunpowder on her hands. He had all the time in the world to clean himself and the clothes up and get rid of any and all signs of gunpowder so that would carry no weight with me if I was on the jury.

Great question. An innocent man would have called 911 and not take
a plane ride to his parents house in another country. He told nobody and
made no effort to get help for her or the baby.

They should have opened up the airplane door for this guy on the way back from England. Guilty.

I hate when the cable companies shuffle/delete channels.
I love the Criminals Go Wild on A High Speed Drunk Driving Robbery Spree specials!;)

I don't like John Bunnell or the sound effects they put on the clips.
How can you hear the sound of tires squealing from 300 feet in a helicopter?:);)

I've been following this trial closely, since it's right down the road. I remembered when it all happened. The baby was soooooo cute. I think he's guilty too. But I just have this feeling, the jury is going to be hung.

Cases don't usually show up on Court TV until the jury makes it's decision.

They changed the name of Court TV to Tru TV but it's the same stuff. They
have one show called Power & Privilege & Justice that I like to watch too. It's
all high profile cases.

I remember reading about it but wasn't quite sure what to think. Could the fact that finding his wife and baby shot and dead have thrown him into shock and he left without knowing what he was doing? A bit like someone who is in a car accident and goes into shock and walks away without a trace...

I knew about the name change but it still doesn't help me. Nothing like that on my cable any more. It's gone. :( I loved Power and Privilege (Dominick Dunn). All great stuff, but I can't see any of it any more.

Great. I just saw it on CNN. His excuses were just rediculous. What a loser.

Do you really think it would help? I am only one person, but then if others have already called and complained. Hmmmmm.....

Life, with no chance of parole...period.

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/06/25/entwistle.verdict/?iref=mpstoryview

(CNN) -- A man who fled the United States for his native England after his wife and daughter were killed was found guilty of their murders Wednesday.

Neil Entwistle, 29, repeatedly closed his eyes and shook his head as the foreman read the verdict: guilty of two first-degree murder charges, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

The jury in Woburn, Massachusetts, deliberated for less than 12 hours before reaching the verdict.

During the trial, prosecutors said Entwistle was in debt and dissatisfied with his sex life when he fatally shot Rachel Entwistle and 9-month old Lillian as the two snuggled in bed.

"We may never know why this happened. But we do know that Rachel and Lillian Rose loved and trusted Neil Entwistle," Joseph Flaherty, a spokesman for Rachel Entwistle's family, said after the verdict.

"Neil Entwistle's actions on January 20, 2006, betrayed that love and trust. Neil Entwistle will now live with his evil deeds for the rest of his natural life, only to be judged again," the family said. Video Watch the victims' family thank the public for its support »

With the verdict, the jury rejected a defense claim that Rachel Entwistle killed Lillian and then committed suicide. Entwistle claimed that he returned the gun to his father-in-law's home 50 miles away because he wanted to preserve his wife's honor.

Outside the courthouse, Entwistle's parents continued to assert their son's innocence.

"Our son will now go to jail for loving, honoring and protecting his wife and Lillian," Yvonne Entwistle said, adding that she knew her daughter-in-law was "depressed." Video Watch Entwistle's mother assert he is innocent »

"We will continue to fight for our innocent son with the hope that one day, justice will prevail and that our little granddaughter Lily will rest in peace," she said.

After the verdict, defense lawyer Peter Park said he was confident that an appeal would prevail on the grounds that police entered Entwistle's home illegally on two occasions.

Defense lawyers did not call any witnesses.

Police in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, discovered the bodies of Rachel, 27, and Lillian in the master bedroom of their home January 22, 2006, after responding to a missing persons report filed by the victims' relatives. Authorities said the two were killed two days before. See a timeline of the Entwistle case »

Entwistle told police in a phone call January 23 that he found his wife and daughter dead from gunshot wounds January 20 after returning from running errands. He told authorities he could see "a gunshot wound on Lillian's body and blood around her mouth."

He did not call police. Instead, he said, he got a knife to kill himself but "could not go through with it."

He said he then drove to his in-laws' home to get a gun to kill himself but could not get into the home. He also told police he was unable to contact his mother-in-law, he told police. Video See Entwistle break down in court during testimony »

Eventually, he said, he drove to Boston's Logan International Airport because he "wanted to go home to his parents in England." British police arrested him the following month.

Prosecutors doubted Entwistle's story. He had not worked for four months before the murders, and the family was paying $2,700 a month for their home, leading police to believe that financial problems may have played a role in the slayings.

Authorities discovered that, days before the murders, Entwistle looked at a Web site that described "how to kill people by various methods" and launched Internet searches on suicide, euthanasia and "how to kill someone with a knife," the documents said.

He also searched for escort services near his home, according to search warrants, including Eye Candy Entertainment, Exotic Express and Sweet Temptations.

Prosecutors said that the victims' gunshot wounds were not easily visible and that he would not have been able to see them without careful examination.

Court documents show that it took investigators and forensic chemists several hours to determine that the baby had been shot and that her gunshot wound was visible only after her mother's body had been moved.

After the verdict, Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone condemned the defendant for "disparaging" the memory of his wife with the suicide claims. He said the verdict brought justice to Rachel and Lillian, who would have turned 3 years old this April.

"She should be here walking, talking and playing, with her mom, Rachel, doting over her," Leone said. "But we all now know that's not going to happen, and that's not going to happen because of the reprehensible acts of Neil Entwistle."

Asked about Entwistle's parents' comments, Leone said he would expect "nothing less" from the parents of a man who had been convicted of murder.

"Frankly, our thoughts are with them too," he said.

Sure, isn't that what anyone would do when they come home to a dead wife and baby.:rolleyes: If the whole thing wasn't so tragic it would be laughable. I hope he rots with Scott Peterson.

His parents made me so mad last night. They were on the news saying that the mother killed their granddaughter and then herself. Ugh. Disgusts me. Their son needs to be a man and face the consequences.

Unfortunately, they've probably been making excuses for this loser
all of his life. He has no conscience at all.
