George Carlin passed away at 71 yesterday.:(

Heart Failure.

He was funny and smart. Always topical, naughty and able to make you think.

I can't tell you how many times I have learned things by reading Pet Talk and it's not as if I don't watch the news. This is really a shocker. In my opinion, especially as I get older, 71 seems to be not so old. He brought a lot of smiles to many of us. I am sorry to read this.

RICHARD, this is a shock. I have so many of his routines on CD, cassette, and even 8 track. I love "wonderful WINO, in wonderful Walla Walla" RIP, George!

I loved his humor.

His "stuff", the football/baseball comparisons.....

I especially like the 'news' --- "And now for sports scores, "21-14, 10-7"

it rocked.

I heard this on the radio as I pulled into the parking lot at work this morning. I am glad I got the oppertunity to see him perform live last year. He did a great show!

When I was in high school, (or juior high?) I can remember being in my best friend basement during the summer listening to her dad's old George Carlin records. Her grandpa stopped over and heard what we were listening to and didn't find it the most appropraite material for teenagers. I'm sure we didn't understand half of it at the time, but were fans ever since.

We recorded his last HBO special "It's Bad for You!" He was a crusty cynic who made you laugh and think. His tag line for the special was "It's B***, and it's bad for you!"

He was a great comedian. From his hippy dippy weather man to his 7 words to his Stuff, he could make us see think and laugh at the same time.

A reporter did a live shot from his Star on the Walk of Fame.

It's at the corner of Vine and Selma streets. As the zoomed into the star they showed the street and curb -both were cracked and in disrepair.

Kinda sad and not the way you wanted to see it.

------------

To get a star you pay something like 15,000 dollars to have one put in-I don't know if you can pick the location. I know the L.A. Dodgers just had one dedicated to the team and it was in a choice location.

My favorite George Carlin joke was: “Dogs lead a nice life. You never see a dog with a wristwatch.”

I'm devastated. It's like I grew up with the guy. His HBO shows were hysterical. I saw a live act and at the end, he takes out a scroll and reads off MORE than 7 words you can't say on TV. We screamed with laughter. RIP Hippy Dippy Weatherman. And Thanks.
