Since we had a thread about the car YOU wanted, I think that an ugly car/bike thread would be fun...

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Photos/Web/tour-profile.jpg

I was watching the tube when I saw a commercial about this bike. It's a 2007/8 Victory Vision, made by the Polaris company.

If that's their Vision of cycling, please poke my eyes out.

That is the kind of bike a person would buy to be bothered by the question, "WHAT is it?" as opposed to the comment, "Hey, nice bike".

There is a certain amount DISCOMFORT attached to riding a motorcycle.
Radios, heated seats, suits and handgrips are for sissies.

Of course. There is the added plus of being able to carry your kids or some egg salad sandwiches in the sidebags.Of course, you don't want to do that for a long ride, mayonaisse goes bad really quickly!

Oh no you don't, Richard. NOT gonna pick on the family car I grew up with, the one I learned to drive. We had a red Rambler station wagon with a white top, folks bought it when I was 5 years old. It was the neatest thing I'd EVER seen, especially once I had a learner's permit! ;)

You want an ugly motor vehicle. Check out the Fiat Multipla.
http://img.timeinc.net/time/2007/50_cars/fiat_multipla.jpg

Was listed as one of the worst cars of all time by Time. You would no believe how many of these disgusting things are on the streets here in Italy. The big blob under the windshield reminds me of a 'spare tire' many of us wish we didn't have. Blech

LOL, I drove an orange Pacer. The great pumpkin.

Beauty is in the eye of the holder of the permit!:)

KCD,

The Lambo looks like the bastard child of a Hummer, International Scout and one of the cartoon cars in the movie 'CARS'.
I guess you can tell when those cars were designed by knowing which drugs were popular at the time!

I don't have any pictures of my first cars, just 'fond" memories. The ugliest was probably "Bill."

"Bill the Car" was a 1974 Maverick that was originally light blue, with a brown driver's side door and a black roof that was flaking off, and maroon primer on both rear fenders. Eventually, Dad found a can of paint that said "light blue" in the basement, turned out it was screaming sky blue!

When "Bill" was rearended one night, as I was asleep, There ended up pieces of sky-blue bondo all over the street, which I gave away as souvenirs.

When I was a teenager in the 60's, my dad bought an old car and this thing was such a rust bucket, as parts fell off, he'd replace them but they never matched. The hood was bright red, the fenders were different colors and so was the trunk. School busses didn't run where we lived, so my dad insisted on driving me to school. My maiden name is Rhome, so, of course, the kids made fun of that car and would yell "Here she comes in the Roman chariot!" They got a good laugh until the temperature dropped below zero and the snow came down and their parents didn't drive them to school. My dad offered them a ride w/me and that put an end to the snickers. To my face anyhow. :p

No, I was upstairs in the house across the street, asleep. I never even heard the collision happen, but I am a very sound sleeper. Although when I first called the police department, they said they had no accidents reported for the night before, my car, which wasn't even parked nearest the (bad) intersection, was more than a foot shorter than it had been when I left it. We had to wedge my snowshovel into the back seat sideways, but Dad came out, tied the bumper back on with clothesline, checked all the lights (which miraculously worked), made sure the gas tank wasn't punctured, and declared it totaled by insurance company standards but driveable as long as I was careful.

That happened on a Friday morning. When I called on the following Monday morning for a copy of the police report that I had at least called it in, the person said, "Wasn't that car part of the 5-car accident that morning?" Sure enough, everything was there and documented, and she had no idea why nobody told me so on Friday. Sigh.

Just don't let anyone know that you are going to let the air out of their tires and everything will be wonderful.

Trust me, If you were going to rag on the Yellow Subarine/Belair station wagon or the Great Pumpkin/Pacer that I rode in/drove I'd be really proud that you happened to notice that I was smart enough to be in a car that was really functional.

I'm ALWAYS the wierdo in any vehicle conversation. I obviously have very strange taste in cars. I rarely like the "popular" vehicles, and tend to own or want the "oddballs". At the moment, for example, I own three cars ... all of them are some shade of purple. One is VW Super Beetle and one is New Beetle. I almost bought a Karmann Ghia at a yard sale last weekend, but my DH vetoed that.

I think Elements are cute ... but I only like the ones where the fenders are the same color as the car, I don't like that gray plastic look. I also think the Scions and Xboxs are so cute.

I really, really want a Mini Cooper S.

As for what I think are ugly ... I have never seen the appeal in the Chevrolet Avalanche or the Cadillac Escalade. And I think Vibes and Aztecs are SO ugly. My friend is in the market for a 70's Buick Rivera Boat Tail. OMG, I am speechless ... those were SO ugly.

Pacers and Gremlins have got to win some prize for ugly cars, and of coure, there is the VW Thing. WHAT was that?? LOL

This reminds me of a car that my late sister had years ago, an Isetta. She told me that, when she would come out of a store or wherever, she couldn't find her car because people would pick it up and move it elsewhere. It fit two people but I always was concerned about their safety.

Hey, no need to be sad, I think both elephants and hippopotami are lovely in their own way. I know a few people who have them, and all of them expressed ambivalence at best about how it looks, but loved the functionality and the room in it!

To each his or her own, after all, we know beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Smart Car Specs

The Smart comes in three major models: the Pure, the Pulse, and the Passion. Each becomes more expensive with more features and options added, and is more luxurious. The Pure is the most basic of the models. This entry-level model is the most economical and is mostly intended for use within the inner city or for short trips. It contains a solid roof and steel wheels with silica energy saving tires. Its engine is 45 horsepower and gets 56 miles per gallon. Unfortunately this model does not have air conditioning or fog lights. Options for the Pure are alloy wheels, fog lights, air conditioning, fully automatic gearbox, navigation system, side air bags, velour carpet mats, and CD player. The Pure is available in Left Hand Drive and Right Hand Drive.

The Pulse has a more powerful engine. Its intended use is for out of town journeys. It has a 'Softip' sequential 6 speed manual gearbox that is clutch-less. The engine is 62 horsepower and on this model the "sportline" alloy wheels are standard. Leather interior and fog lights are also standard on this model. In addition, the glass roof lets a healthy amount of sunlight in. This one's only available in Left Hand Drive though.

The most luxurious model is the Passion. It has the same engine as the Pulse, but it has "Softouch" sequential 6-speed gearbox that can be switched to either automatic or manual. It also has digital gear display like the Pulse. The Passion has a rear windshield heater and wiper, a tinted glass roof, keyless entry, luggage compartment cover and leather steering wheel and gearshift. The Passion has 54 horsepower engine and can get up to 60 miles per gallon on unleaded fuel. It has the same options as the Pure and Pulse (CD, navigation system, side airbags, velour carpet mats). The Passion also comes in a convertible type with a removable top. In my opinion, the coolest thing about this car is that it has 9 body panels made out of a polycarbonate, that can be changed in under an hour to give the car a whole new look. A whole list of colors are available, such as Jack Black, Lite White, Aqua Vanilla, Phat Red, True Blue Metallic, Bay Grey Metallic, Numeric Blue, River Silver Metallic, and Stream Green Metallic. You could drive to work in classy Jack Black but then at night hit the town in wild River Silver Metallic or sexy Phat Red. They also make great company vehicles because a company logo or image can be put onto the side of the cars. Not only that, a diesel version became available this March.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peel_P50

The Peel P50 was a three-wheeled microcar manufactured in 1963 and 1964 by the Manx Peel Engineering Company, retailing for £199 when new.[1] It was designed as a town car and was advertised as capable of seating "one adult and a shopping bag."

The makers claimed it was capable of an impressive 100 UK MPG (2.8L/100km, 83 US MPG).[1] Despite its diminutive stature, the Peel P50 is street-legal in the UK.

I was just reminded of the stupidest car accessory that I have ever seen.

Years ago NASCAR had a car that had this huge spoiler on the rear trunk, I want to say it was a Roadrunner, the car was raced with this HUGE thing on it and I just laughed when i saw it again recently. The car itself was long and boxy looking-the spoiler made it look really dumb.

I remember seeing people on the street with the same setup and laughing....

I'll try to find a picture of it....:)

This is my ugly car... really, it is ugly. Mine has a "spoiler" of sorts on the back hatch, not sure why, but oh well. Can't find a stock pic with one of those on it. It's this gray blah color too.

Ugh.

Can't wait to trade it in.

Only decent things are that it is bluetooth ready, has a sun roof, AC and get good mileage. It's got a CVT transmission, so it's not technically auto or manual. Just weird, like the rest of the car.

I have a friend that has the black version of that car. It's the hatchback with the spoiler. Theirs is manual though. My friend's mom bought the silver sedan one earlier this week.

I have a Mitsubishi Galant. I always thought the newest style of them was sort of ugly. I bought one anyway. LOL I've gotten more compliments on the look of the car than any other car I've ever owned. Too each his own I guess. It has sort of grown on me now I guess. The back end is what looks funniest to me. It isn't the ugliest car ever though.
