I have a one year old J.R. Terrier named Zoe. She is a cool dog but she is really hyper and she gets these wierd obsessions. First it was barking at the doorknob, then it was sticking her head out of the car door and barking at passing cars, then it was barking at the gutter outside, now it's chasing the garage door when it goes up. Well, I haven't seen anyone else write about Jack Russel Terriers so, If you own on, please reply! Thanx, Mallerie http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I myself have 2 Jack Russell Terriers. I love them to death and will probably not ever have another breed. From what I understand mine are very calm for Jacks. Our are couch potatos that just love to snuggle! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif I have heard of them showing some strange behaviors that you spoke of though? Good Luck and I would love to hear more about your pup! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/wink.gif

Zoe has fleas. We just got her some flea stuff. She is tri color, and her ears stick straight up. when she was a puppy, both were folded down, then one was up and one was down. now they are just up. now she likes to chase the birds. there is a bird's nest outside our house and whenever one flies out, she chases them down the street. sometimes the baby birds poke their heads out and she will bark for hours just to get them to fly away. (the neighbors have become very fond of her. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/wink.gif ) But she is a very good dog, for as hyper as she is.

we adore JRTs. Our broken coat, 10 yo female is the lady of the house, a lover dog, calm and bright, an aging beauty of a Jack, Eddie-type (see Frasier or the movie Michael.) Our rescued 6 yo boy is also a lover, but a digging Houdini and a terror with big dogs. I'll only have Jack's forever. Just look at their unusual behaviors as mysteries to solve.

Jack russel terriers are so very hyper, and its the way most of tem are. There are some though that are very sweet and calm. They do get obsessions very easily! its quite funny to watch! my grandmother and two of my aunts have jack russel terriers(they're all related in some way) and they are the weirdest bunch! One of the dogs likes to attack the plastic ducksa they keep in the pool. I luv these dogs to pieces!!

Gotta love those Jacks!!! Yuppers, I have three, Micki and Mini are 3 and Kyra is 13 months! My three are also pretty laid back and love to veg and be couch potatoes all day but are always ready for a run, to play fetch or go huntin in the woods!
