Hello -

I don't really have time to make a cat blog right now, but, come fall, I plan to get very serious about it and to make a real cat blog.

I decided that I might as well use a generic blog form - google, in this instance - to introduce the idea. Then, as I have time, I will research this whole blog thing and then in the fall will launch the real project.

In the meantime:

I have also begun a website. I have much work to do on it yet and most of the galleries are blank. It will probably take me a year to get it all together. Here is the link:

For Gary and those that want more information about what a blog is, see here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

A blog (an abridgment of the term web log) is a website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/blog

blog
Pronunciation: \ˈblȯg, ˈbläg\
Function: noun [or verb - cc]
Etymology: short for Weblog
Date: 1999

: a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer

I'd say the difference between a blog and a 'regular' website is that it's created by an individual, and is a personal site.

Catty's post pretty well defines it. For a blog to be a blog other than just a regular website, it should include regular and and running commentary.

These days, there are many political blogs, like Hillary Clinton's and Barack Obama's and commentators on the left and right, many of whom pretend to be journalists, and a few actually are.

They're kinda like a daily "diary" of how your day went, or just blogs about whatever you want to talk about. I know a lot of pets have online "blogs" that are like diaries, and they're pretty hilarious!! You should totally make one, I would be a reader for sure! :)

Wow! It's the ever elusive Frostfrog!!!:D
You have always had a wonderful way with words and your posts on Cat of the Day is one of the reasons that I first joined Pet Talk.
Do you still eat at Taco Bell and have a handsome black cat?
Is his name Thunderpaws or something like that and is that him pictured in your new blog with the big furry paws?
I always enjoyed your posts so I know I will enjoy your new blog.
Is that really you there and is that your real name?
You always seemed to be a man of mystery not sharing any photos here in the past.;)

But I will do the blog under an alias. My children and grandhild(ren) will all be featured in this blog along with the cats, and I just prefer not to use everybody's real names. If you check the other link, the one to my under-construction Running Dog website, you can find my real name there.

Yes, I do still eat at Taco Bell, but I have cut down to just once or twice a week, when I am home. When I am out and about, there are usually no Taco Bells to eat at.

Thunder Paws was an orange cat with white face, breasts, belly and paws.

The black cat is Jim Slim Many Toes, and that is him in the picture with my son and grandson. He is kind of naughty looking, because he is naughty. My first black cat, Little Guy, was exceedingly handsome. I no longer had him when I discovered Cat of the Day, but I have referred to him a number of times in past posts.

I once, very briefly, posted the picture story of Thunder Paws' life online and Little Guy was in an image or two.

None of my cats will ever be Cat of the Day, because I never yield copyright to my images and that is why I have not shared them here. But now you can find them on my blog, which is copyright protected.

As noted, the real Kracker Cat blog will begin in the fall. It will be something special. I promise. Until then, it won't be much, but I will keep it going as best I can. I will miss many days, because between now until the end of July, I will be lucky to spend two weeks at home. I should be able to make some posts from the field, but not many.

I just made a new entry, but, layout-wise, I could not get this generic google blog to do what I wanted it to do. When I do my real blog, I will have total control.

I'm glad that I helped inspire you to become a poster!

Thanks all who have replied, for your kind words!
