Today is the National Association of Letter Carriers food drive. It is the largest single day food drive in the nation, last year the drive collected the equivalent of 1550 18-wheelers of food for local charities.

If you live in the US, please remember to put something non-perishable by your mailbox for the mail carrier to pick up. The food goes to local food banks.

What if our letter-carrier does his work on foot, not in a vehicle? Will he be equipped with a little red wagon or something?

It's been co-ordinated. If he's on foot he/she will have drop points to place whatever they collect for pickup.

Mine is out there too! Sadly, with the economy the way it is, I was not able to give as much as I was last year. But there are several cans of veggies and meat to be picked up. I hope they do as well again this year as last!

I have to tell my SPAM story.

Two things growing up that I can barely tolerate today.

SPAM and mac and cheese.

Walking into a a store one day, A local food bank set up a table...I went in and made a beeline for the SPAM. My GF looked at me like I was crazy, "You? SPAM?'

As we walked out I dug into the bags and handed them over.

When the GF asked about it I told her I wanted everyone to have the wonderful experience of eating SPAM....UGH!:D
