Hey all. I'm pretty sure I asked this last year but I never actually figured it out and we ended up not seeing the Falls. I'm going again this year with my friends, (May 20th) and we really want to get there. I was told it would take all day to travel by bus (public transit). There was bus tours which we missed for the week and was really expensive. We're staying in Mississauga at the Double Tree Hotel. Any ideas?

Rent a car mid-week, and get a good map. Should take less than an hour.

Have fun and wave at the falls for me!:)

I think you need to be 25 to rent a car? I don't think any of us are 25...Plus there are 8-10 people in our group...

If you use a service like Rent-A Wreck (they aren't wrecks) and get a passenger van, that might help. Or renting from a regular car place mid week is cheaper.

Call Budget or National rent-a-car, locally and on toll-free, to ask about age restrictions in ON.

Another possibility - don't rely on bus tours, as such - check out good old Greyhound! Your hotel might have some information for you as well.:)

Maybe you can find something on this site:

Good luck!

I don't know if any of us are comfortable driving there unfortunately...I know I'm not anyway...However I'll definitely bring that up to the group. Thanks!

Freedom: I'll take a look at that now. Thanks :)

I still say - hop the Greyhound and forget the already-booked tour buses. You'll have more fun.
Schedule

Fares

I chose Tuesday July 15 as a departure/return date. There are discounts for students and also for "non-refundable" fares, and you get a buck or two off if you reserve at least a day ahead of time.

Cheers!

Thanks everyone for the help! We looked into Viarails and Greyhound buses. We ended up booking tickets with the train. The nearest station is only 6km away so we should easily be able to take a bus there. We're going next Wed! It's only $46.20 for both ways so it's not too bad. The Greyhound would be a tiny bit cheaper, but the closest station is a lot farther away. I'm glad I'll get to see it this time. It's something I've wanted to do for a very long time (haha, so was seeing The Phantom of the Opera...I've wanted to see that since I was a kid :o I got to see it last year and was very happy.)

Anyway...thanks again for the help!
