View Full Version : What A Morning

I took Smokey & Maggie to be washed & brushed this morning. They
were so excited to be going to PetsMart. (they're favorite place to visit)
I got them both leashed & started for the door. A lady was coming back
out of the store to her car & stopped to talk to my dogs & they became
even more excited & happy.

Long story short, the leashes got tangled & I was knocked off my feet. :(

There I was laying in the middle of the parking lot & yelling "catch my dogs
please" The lady grabbed Maggie's leash & Smokey bolted to the store and
sat waiting for me. I was so mortified. Several people stopped to
help & kept saying are you alright? :o :o Only ended up with a scraped
knee & a very red face. :o

This afternoon has got to be better or I'm going back to bed. :)

Haven't we all had days like that? Glad everything turned out okay. I am sure one of my dogs would have run for the street instead of the store. And for me there would probably be blood involved which would only add to the upset of everything.

Hope your day gets better. Although going back to be doesn't sound like an all bad thing to me today!

One of the guys who stopped to help insisted on walking one of the dogs
into the store for me. He did say it was one of the most graceful falls he had seen in a long time. :p

Glad you're OK and that the pups are OK too!

I am sure it was embarrassing at the time, but it sounds like you have a reason to be a proud doggie mom. :) First, they got tangled in their leashes because they were happy and excited to be meeting someone new, good pups. Second, Smokey ran to the door and sat down to wait for you? Doubley good pup. And to remain graceful while entangled in 100 pounds of combined dog fur is not an easy feat. Yep, I think after icing your knee you should give yourself a big pat on the back for being such a good dog mom. :D
Hope things go smoother when it's time to pick them up.

If it makes you feel better..........Goofy ran out the door right after we moved needless to say Mom was having heart failure, yelling for my girl and panicked asking the neighbors to grab her, by the time I got up off my ungraceful fall, she was sitting pretty as you please by our truck waiting for another ride.............

Glad all you had was a scraped knee, but gotta love our furry kids right?

I have to agree with Ginger's Mom. Over all, a good reason to be one very proud doggie mom. Glad you weren't hurt too badly.

What a nightmare. It has to be one of our biggest fears of all our fears.

Liz, you're a great doggie Mom alright. You're lying in the middle of the parking lot, injured, humiliated, and, only concerned about your dogs. That is the true definition of a great doggie Mom!! :) Glad you're ok. It might be a good idea to stay in the house for the remainder of the day :)

Liz I know that had to put a smile on your face! There is nothing like going through something like that and have someone interject a little humor. :) A couple of years ago I fell on some ice in the parking lot at my work. I was holding some mail and as I went down I was thinking only of the mail and hoping I didn't drop it and it would blow away! Of course after I got up my next concern was who had watched my little escapade and how silly I must have looked on the way down! :o :D

It sounds to me like Smokey should get a nice juicy steak for being such a good boy! :p Also, the lady who grabbed Maggie's leash certainly was your guardian angel. :) It might have been a crazy morning but it turned out well anyway. I hope you don't feel too banged up tomorrow. "The day after" can sometimes be worse than the actual fall.

Oh my! I agree with the others - we've all been there! At least you or the pups weren't seriously injured, our pride usually recovers pretty quickly after a laugh or two over it. What a good boy Smokey was! Sherman got away from me at the pet store once, ran all over the stupid parking lot till he figured which way led into the pet shop, silly boy.
Enjoy an ice pack, a couple asprin, & a nice cup of tea.

Goodness!!
Glad you didn't get too hurt!
Sounds like Smokey was getting into the store with our without you! ;)

Well, I have two big reasons to praise Smokey today. No running off
in the parking lot & for being such a good boy at the grooming salon.
I was worried that he would freak out with the dryers like last tme he
was there. The girl who did them both said he was an "obsolute doll"

It's funny, Smokey literally pranced around the house for for an hour
after we got back home. I was so proud of him. :)

Maggie turned out to be the drama queen.
That's just because it was her first time having someone else bath &
groom her. I'm sure she will be better next time.

My knee still stings but, all in all, turned out to be a good day. :)

As they say, all's well that ends well. And despite the scraped knee and the :o, for all intents and purposes, this story had a happy ending - especially considering the other turns it could have taken. Having two that like to do the ring around the rosy with the leashes myself, I vow that forever forward it's only one at a time to PetsMart. Even trying to navigate one with a purse on the arm can be a challenge.

You sound the the voice of experience here Pam. :) you're right too.

My right hand was very sollen last night & today it's purple & sore. I must
have made a two point landing & also hit the heel of my hand. The ice packs
do seem to help a lot. :)

Awww, c'mone! :p

Go for THREE on a 3-way Y-thingie!

That always gets the Jaw-Drop Look  from the folks on the registers!

The greatest problem is keeping track of all Three MOUTHS when we walk down
the bulk treat & toy aisles! But they're always appreciated in the food aisles if there's a broken bag.

And you haven't lived till you're in the middle of a Three-Way Snarl-Up!

1st, I am so glad you and the pooches are allright.

You put in smile on my face when I read what the young
man said to you.
"it was one of the most graceful falls he had seen in a long times"

Interesting how Smokey bolted to the store and sat patiently waiting for
his mom. lol

Again, Liz glad you are ok.

Yikes - that hand has to hurt. I hope it feels (and looks) much better today.

Thanks , It doesn't seem to hurt as much & the swelling has gone down
some. Only thing is, it is my curser hand. :D I'm sure I will be just fine &
I'll stop yakking about it. Thanks for all the moral support guys. :)
