So our school is associated with a local no-kill shelter and we help them out whenever we can. Today our instructors/program director made an announcement that last night some one or two week old kitties were discovered dumped on the side of the road. There were about two litters, nine kitties total. Since the shelter that picked them up (NOT the shelter we're with) was at max capacity and could not take or foster them, they were going to be euthanized. "Our shelter" is max capacity too, but got ahold of them and asked us if we could "foster" them for awhile.

So we now have nine kitties split between two classes. They are keeping them in groups of two. As you all know it takes a lot of work bottle feeding them and such... so we have to take them home overnight... well guess who got "first shift"??

Yup!! Meeee! They are soo cute, I have a brother and sister, and most of the litter are TORTIESSSS!! I'm so beyond excited about that, you have no idea hehe

No pics yet, I've been trying to get them to eat for the last hour, I'll see what I can do to get you pics since I know you all want some ;)

As My Friend Helen From Animal Welfare Tells Me It Just Never Stops.
Hey Weve Got These Kittens, No We Never Had Our Cat Spayed, Is That Important???
Does Noone Understand What Responsibility Is???
Thank God For People On This Board And To The Animal Welfares Out There Who Care And Do Thier Best To Help These Innocent Pets.

I tried feeding them when I first got home from school and they wanted NONE of it! So I waited an hour and tried again... they put up a fight but eventually gave in. HJ is the only one of us who was able to get them to eat so far, lol. He gets the good job... I get the dirty job of stimulating them to urinate/defecate!!!

They didn't eat much so I'm going to try again in another hour or so, don't wanna stress/wear them out too much since the little girl is underweight. But they ate a little and it's better than nothin'!

Plus... pics!!!

OK I lied, apparently my computer isn't recognizing my second hard drive right now to download pics so I'm gonna restart my PC and try again later lol

What a wonderful project for your school to take on! So many kitties will benefit from all of your efforts. These babies are simply adorable and I'm sure they'll thrive while in your excellent care. Please be sure to keep us updated on their progress. And remember, PT is the place you can always come to for support and expert advice.

Wow, what a wonderful school project!! What if EVERY school did this? Then there would be more informed people and probably less unwanted kittens.

Those guys are absolutely darling!

Delightful to see them! The girl looks almost half the size of her bro; hope they keep eating for you. Best wishes with the wee ones!

Well we are a veterinary technician program ;) But I do agree; if more schools could do this (and who doesn't want to nurse baby kitties/puppies???) we'd save, and probably adopt out, soo many more lives!
