A few weeks ago I contacted Gary - catmandu - about purchasing some of those wonderful Canidian Catnip mousies that his Aunt Helen makes.

Well, today 30  mice arrived, safe & sound, it took them a good 2 weeks to get here - I think they made a few stops along the way. ;)

The cats knew exactly what was in that package since the time Tim brought it into the house. He was having fun with it and the kitties……….walking around the house, holding the package (down around his knees) and walked in and around everything with three very alert kitties following him! First time, in quite some time that Tim has had this much attention from the cats! And believe me; he loved every minute of it!!

We were headed out to dinner with some friends so we (stupidly) left the unopened box on the island in our kitchen. When we arrived back a few hours later, everything on that island was now on the floor and the corners of the box were chewed! - - what a surprise, ha, ha.

I opened the box, behind closed doors and packaged each mouse in its own bag, then placed all the little bagged mice into a bigger plastic bag. They will be taken to the no-kill shelter later this week so they can “find some new homes”.

I want to let everyone know what a great thing Gary and his Aunt Helen have done for all the future kitties in Arizona who will receive one of these mousies as a gift. They will really enjoy them.............I know my cats love them, and they are still having a blast with the empty, but catnip smelling box!

Thank you Gary & Aunt Helen!!!!! :D

gary is so very sweet to do that.
yes...they may have stopped at different PTers on the way to say hello.
(if it took 2 weeks, the mailman had to go to a lot of PTers homes.)

a package came to my house but the mailman only held it up for a couple minutes to my cats (so they could get a good wiff of them and say hello to each other.i saw my cats waving at the package when the mailman started walking away to the next PTers home w/cats :D :D

i got garys mice in the past and my cats love them.have fun kittys :)

Yes, Gary's catnip mice are the best! My fur posse love them and it isn't unusual to find one or more writhing on the floor on top of one. :p

Mine love the mice Uncle Gary sent. It's so nice to see my oldest playing so heartily at 12 1/2. Only Uncle Gary's mouse can make him play like that!

Our shelter that you take them to will be so happy to have those.

I think you're on the opposite side of town from me - maybe I should see if I can buy some for the East Valley rescue kitties.

The Found Cats and I are only too pleased to do anything we can to help a poor Lost Cat become a Found Cat and have thier Gotcha Day, and thier Furr Ever Home.
Thats a funny idea about the mail person stopping by all the homes and letting the Cats sniff!!!
We hope that everything goes well and a few Older Cats find someone to love them.

Gary's mousies are the best. Filou and Tigris got one each one time and I think there was never a toy that lasted that long :)

How sweet and thoughtful! I'm sure those little shelter kitties will not only love having a great toy to play with, they'll also have something to call their very own.

Dear Uncle Catmandu -- Cassie and I would like to thank you very, very much for the handmade catnip mousies. I have pictures in the camera and I will post them later. She played with them for a good half-hour yesterday and at her age, she is rarely that energetic anymore! Then she lay on the floor and purred and purred. Uncle Gary, We Thank You!

With grateful purrs,
Cassie Cat and Elyse

I haven't thought about the day our mice arrived from Uncle Gary in a long time.. Soon as the package was brought into the houe, they were all RIGHT THERE! They can small those things a mile away and I don't care how hard they are sleeping, it gets to them and they come running! Theirs is years old and I honestly think, Giz keeps it hidden because it will suddenly appear out of nowhere and they will fight over it.. They keep their "punch" forever!!!

The great thing about these Mice and the gifts I buy at the Animal Welfare Association , and the big mice and the food that they sell is that all of the proceeds go to the Homeless Cats of Hamilton , who in this time of recession can use all the help that they can get!!!

FWI, they are listed on the Hamilton Animal Welfare's Web site (awa.xux.net) under gift shop for $3 each, but the Animal Welfare doesn't ship.
