After living with a cat for six years I have a sure fire list of things that every cat owner must have.

The range from the practical, extravagant and just plain wacky. You decide where they fit in.

Nylon string.
Tie a object to the end and go cat fishing.

Straws.
What cat doesn't like a straw.

Milk rings.
Another cheap way to have hours of fun.

Crumpled tin foil.
See milk rings!

A stethescope.
I have one and love to sneak a listen to the inner workings of a purring cat.
It's pretty fricking wild, check it out.

A laser pointer.
Good for a laugh and kitty exercise.

Night vision scope.
Pricey, but a huge ball of fun. If you get the kind with the infra-red flashlight? Even better.

Super Glue.
If I have to explain.....

------------------

Any of the above will provide you hours of fun with your cat.

My faves are the stethescope, laser pointer and night scope.

I have another one...

Office Chair
Cats can scratch it and it wont shred. Doubles as a bed and a jungle gym too!

Great list! Might I add shoe strings, in the shoes of coarse...

Big fat roll of packing tape, to quickly and cheaply de-fur your outfit! Wrap it inside out around your hand and roll it over the fabric, and you're good to go.

Cassie's list of must-haves:
*Towels, preferably freshly tumbled in the dryer and still warm. Folding not necessary.
*Plants for munching. Grass and catnip preferred.
*A blanket on at least one horizontal surface in each room.
*Milk left in bowl after meowmom has eaten cold cereal. Meowmom should pour extra milk into bowl for cat's consumption.
*Socks left hanging just slightly over the edge of the laundry basket - excellent toys. The fuzzier, the better. If not sufficiently fuzzy, turned inside out to facilitate better play.

And mine:
*Resolve carpet cleaner
*Lint brushes
*Lots of grey and black clothes, the better to hide grey cat hair.

Richard, what's up with super glue?

I cannot believe none of you listed two of the most important must-haves for cat owners.

1. A good sense of humor
2. A fine sense of irony

Richard, what's up with super glue?

In your best Alex Trebeck/game show host voice.

Oh, nothing.........

Or

That little knick knack on the table/shelf/floor!

What is,

Dude, what did you break now?

Karen,

Humor? I laugh at cat ownership! :)
