Well Guido had the day of today first one in some time. So we decided at 8:30 this morning to go to Capeller. It is the small zoo that is near our home. When we first got there the skies were quite overcast. Less than an hour later we were drowned. It came on quick and it turned cold really quick too. We didn't get to see much of the park and most of the animals were inside. The monkeys were all inside under their heatlamps and the cats were all inside out of the rain too. The birds were about the only ones loving it. I got a few pictures but not many. So we maybe going back on Friday if the weather is nice.

Here are a few pictures from a rain soaked visit.

From what we can figure from the translation this is a crested crane.

Did you get the feeling the animals had more sense than you had? :p I bet you didn't have to fight the crowds, or stand in line! :D

Those pictures did come out nicely, and thanks for posting what the names are. I think you have been there before and shared it with us? Always something new at the zoo, I go to ours a few times per year also. Hope you are now dry and snuggly warm with Artica and the kitties!

That would be a Victoria crowned pigeon. :)

Really nice photos, I've not been to a zoo in such a long time.

You are so right Sandie. I swear the zebra were looking at us and saying 'how stupid are you don't you know it is raining even I am staying INSIDE!!!' But believe it or not there were quite a few people there. But unlike us they were smart enough to bring umbrellas.

I have shared pics with you guys before from this particular place. This is the place that was private until a few years ago when the government made them go public. They know us now when they see us as everytime we go I get a new stuffie. LOL

Thanks Argrenade for telling the correct name of that bird. Hubby said it was a crane as the name was gru which is italian for crane but it sure as heck didn't look like a crane. He was such a pretty bird. :)

Thank you for the lovely comments Sandie, Robin & Argranade. I so love the zoo and we go to Capeller about 4-6 a year. Next time I will have to make sure we have nicer weather. :)

I am in love with this cat. This is a young male that is not quite a year old. He was last years kitten from the pair.

Toucan...isn't he cute.

Silly bird that I don't know the name of. Everytime I would go to walk away he would squawk at me.

We thought this capybara was so funny when he stuck him one back foot in the water and just stood there. Not so funny he was taking a poop.

This is the buck of whatever he is. I can't remember to save my life.

gorgeous flamingo. Some of them were so vividly colored.

Breeding pair of black swans. The one standing was telling me off royally for being too close.

Hubby took this one. I think it turned out great. Good job honey. Cutie pie raccoon.

I don't know what kind of a duck this is but he is quite little. He was up waddling along the stairs. He wasn't at all scared. I am pretty sure I could have picked him up and he wouldn't have complained.

Thanks so much Annette & Kari for your replies. :)

And also thanks for telling me the name of that bird. It was written in Italian like all the others so seeing I messed up the translation of the first one I didn't bother to try. :p

I am glad you both enjoyed the pics.
