Many of you may remember that on Easters past I have posted pictures of Sand Sculptures done by a local artist here in Findlay. Once again, I went to our park and got pictures of his work.

When I got there Roger was just beginning to "create" Noah. This is the first time I have ever been there to see him work. It was quite an experience seeing him bring him to life. I have a video of it - I will try to post it too.

This clump of sand is going to be Noah.

That looks like it would be a lot of fun to watch him work. :) The sculptures
are amazing. Is this the same park where the Dog Park is? Thanks for sharing
these this year.

Wow!

One of the local Churches should hold an Easter Service there at the display area.

Liz, no it is not the same park but is not far from the Dog Park.

Phred, there is an ecumenical sunrise service held at the site. And no I have never been to it because I don't like cold outdoor early morning things.

Joyce, when he first started doing them about 6 years ago, they made him get rid of them by the end of the week. Now they let it go for about a month because it is getting better know around this area and the country too. An author happened to see it and has based 3 books on them - her name is Catherine Ritch Guess her website is http://www.ciridmus.com/crg.htm. They are done on a sand volley ball court so some of the sand is left and the rest is donated to sandboxes at local schools and parks.

Some people have read the books or in some other way heard about his work and will come every year to see his sculpture or help with them. This year a couple from Tennessee because she had read one of the books. They weren't sure it was real but when they got here they stayed and have been helping out. In the pictures, he was the man working on the turtles.

Let's hope that Rob and Snoopy attend and say a few Prayers for all of us.

Oh, I forgot about this! We checked it out last year, it truly is amazing. We didn't get to see him working, though - I'll bet it was fascinating. The sculptures are there for quite a while - and they build a viewing deck so you can see them from a good angle (or at least they did last year). It's a wonderful gift to the community, very inspiring. I love the children before the tomb that he did this year, and the Noah's ark is really cool, too. Thank you for posting these, Diana.

Those are amazing works. And to spend so much time on something that will not last long with the weather and all. Thanks so much for posting this for us to enjoy.
