I think we took a trip to the Cah lee Fuh Nee Ah Poppy reserve once before.

Because spring starts tomorrow shall we take a field trip?

I got the bus running and I'll pull it around the front...

All Aboard!

Perhaps those who have not been to California in the spring are only picturing the poppy fields from The Wizard of Oz .... and we don't need people dropping off to sleep, head pressed against the keyboard, keys denting foreheads.

Let me disabuse folks of that notion.

California poppies
Are like liquid sunshine
Captured in a tiny silken cup
Gold and yellow, butter and fire
They dot the roadsides, fields and lots
Too beautiful to be flown past at 75 m.p.h.
But low enough to the ground
To take such buffeting
In their cheery golden stride
Starlets would envy
The brilliant, delicate beauty
If they lowered their overdark glasses
To really see.

Wonderful and true.
This time of year you will be jamming down the road and will pass these electric patches of poppies, They catch your eye and they are gone in a second.

I'll drive slower.

Ham and cheese sandwiches, a veggie/cheese platter and fruit plate, chips, water, tea, coffee and some pink wine....I am not a wine person but someone can suggest one?

I don't have any poppies but I have PeePs. Lots and lots of PeePs! I have this color : PEEP , and this color : PeeP and this color : PeeP!

By the way, the COTD just happens to be named Poppy and is a pretty orangie, like gini's flower picture!!! :cool:

RICHARD, as long as the bus runs good and has brakes, I'll be on it. I'm a Pittsburgh native and haven't realy seen real poppies and your're right, my idea of poppies comes from the Wizard of Oz. I'll have two ham sandwiches and a BIG cup of coffee.

How about if I sit here in the back and put some Ham & Brie on sourdough bread sammiches together! You can keep the RoseyPink wine thank you, I think I'll stick to a nice California white. Actually I've been known to squeeze a mean lemon or two (with the help of a few PT'ers) so I can re-fill the pitcher in a minute or two. Hi ebberyone!! I would suggest one of those car games like we would play on a road trip as kids but the scenery is so pretty I'll just shut up :rolleyes:

Hrm...something along the lines of a pale ale. I should take you all on a virtual brewery tour. There are a ton of microbrewries up this way, most of which have a very good selection of brews :D

I think those poppies addled my brain. I went to the grocery this morning and found a shoe in the frozen chicken strips section. :eek:

Someone got confused about who was to "strip" I guess. I got the manager and he took it out. It looked like a never worn shoe. So someone is running around with one bare foot or some one footed person has themselves a new shoe and thossed the "spare" in the freezer. :D

I need a blueberry smoothie!!! :D

Weird things have been happening to me this last week. I couldn't find one of my favorite tops. I finally found it in my sock drawer???? I would have sworn I hadn't gone near that drawer in months. :eek:

Then one of my blood pressure pills went missing. I have a 7 week pill sorter I put them in. I KNOW it was in there but when I went to take it, it was gone. The cats can't get in the sorter and wouldn't touch medicine anyway.

I finally found it clear across the room in front of my dresser. How it got across the carpet clear over there is beyond me. I checked it over and it was still smooth and the numbers were clear which means it was not it a cat mouth and dropped. MERCY I'M GOING CRAZY!!!! :eek:

Was just reading about the peep antics on here... you know, I work in the birthplace city of the PeePs.. Bethlehem. The Just Born Factory is right there, and I believe they give tours. I know they give out tons of donations, cause we've gotten them for our schools in Bethlehem!

We get CA poppies her in OR but it's more of a summer fall thing.

Pua says to make sure it's spray cheese. She got the taste for it from Stewie.

I'm above Eugene :) We had an inch of snow this morning but it all melted off. We got daffodils and lots of other flowers out though.
