Well We went to a friends 30 acre farm for target shooting today. It was my very first time EVER shooting a gun other than a Bebe or paintball gun.

It was SO much fun. I was terrible with the shotgun and shooting at the clay pigeons. but I was pretty darn good with the .22 rifle if I do say so myself

Pics and vids.....

Looks like a lot of fun! I was taught gun safety a young age and started competing in target shooting in high school. You did a lot better than me the first time I was out lol :D

Sparks19,

When I was a cop, I used to go every Saturday. I loved the firing range. I miss doing it when I sold my gun. :( It was the one hobby after I quit the force that I enjoyed.

Glad everyone liked the pics :)

LOL apparently my husband was just as surprised at how well I did with the rifle (I sucked with the shotgun lol) because when we walked down to the targets to see how I did he points to the ONE target that doesn't have a scratch on it and says "you were shooting at this one right?" LOL and he was dead serious hahahaha. me and the guy we were with just looked at each other and laughed and then he asked Brian if he was being serious lol. I said "do you really have THAT little faith in my shooting that you think I missed the target TEN times lol... NO I was shooting at this one lol you see with all the bullet holes near the bullseye" lmao we teased him about that all day.

He's such a smarty pants.

I went shootin for the first time ever also a few weeks back, except I used handguns. I'd never shot anything before in my LIFE so I guess I didn't do too bad at first, we were at 7m I think? There was a strong wind that picked up though so toward the end I started missing nearly every one... but was told it makes you tired too and if you over-concentrate it can make you miss, guess I was just trying too hard haha

It is fun, though, my friend has a rifle he shot with us but since I'd never shot anythin before I figured I'd get familiar with one firearm before doing others. It's kinda scary, too, shooting for the first time because first off it's relatively easy, the shot surprises you, and it's just... really powerful.

My dad has a .45 long barel revolver with a scope...that thing nearly knocked me on my butt the first time I fired it lol. No matter how many times I go out shooting with that thing it always suprises me!

You were a cop Donna? :D lol. Somehow that doesn't suprise me ;)

I had never even seen a gun let alone handle or shoot one until a few years ago. The guy I was dating then was a marksman and he had a camper on a lake so we went there, into the woods and he taught me how to shoot a .357 Magnum. I must admit, it was fun. I shot soft drink cans as targets and, according to everyone there, I did really well, so I brought one of the cans home w/my bullet holes in them and put it in the window of my house sort of as a security system. ;) I also shot a .44 but the recoil was too much for me; I didn't feel safe w/it. And I shot a .22 rifle but I didn't like that either; too much gun for little ol' me. I don't have a gun myself, though. I just don't feel confident and to me, that's deadly. You should be sure of what you're doing. Congrats on your shooting and doing it right!

Medusa LMAO that is a great idea for a security system hahahaha. I like that.

Well I must admit I had two very good teachers to guide me. I had to use a youth model shotgun because my arms are just to short and the adult sizes are too big and awkward for me to handle. The rifle I liked... it wasn't so cumbersome but I am still a little short to lay my head on the weapon and look through the sight... I have to rest my chin on it to see through it lol.

A friend of ours is going to sponsor us for a membership at a gun club here so it will be nice to be able to go out to that target range whenever we feel like it so I can get more experience. Eventually with a lot of practice I may try my hand at deer hunting but definitely not until I am comfortable and well versed enough to get a klil shot. For now I will stick to catching fish lol.

About 16 years ago I learned how to field strip and clean a 9mm. I had to learn to do this before I was able to shoot it. Then when we went to the range I was trying too hard and kept shooting the ground, until I was told to let it bounce back. Then I think I did pretty good.....for a girl! :p

All the years of my uncle and cousin hunting, I never have shot a rifle. I guess it's not too late to learn. hee hee :)

Nice shootin' Tex! ;) :D

Andy and I haven't been to the range in awhile. We stopped by Cabela's yesterday and I've an itchy trigger finger now. :D

The closest Cabela's to here is about an hour away but we have heard really good things about it lol so we are planning a trip there. But our last trip to Bass Pro Shops was a lot of fun lol we even got Hannah a camo hat and onsie haha.

Taz... it's never too late to learn. and DON'T get discouraged on your first try. I was TERRIBLE with the shotgun lol. but I am definitely wanting to practice more.
