Gidget is an adorable 6-month-old kitty whose adoptive Mom got her and Gidget's sister from a rescue. This baby is in a great deal of pain due to broken tibia and torn cruciate ligaments. The injuries happened when the applicant's son accidentally fell on poor Gidget.

The vet says that Gidget needs surgical repair to reattach cruciate ligaments and secure tibia to fibula within the next 4-5 days, or euthanasia is recommended due to the severe pain she is in.

IMOM is trying to raise $1400 ASAP to help this baby. Please help get the word out. Cross-post please! And, if you can afford to make a donation -- no matter how small -- please specify GF-Gidget Lockie on IMOM's donation form: http://www.imom.org/donation/ You can donate using PayPal or credit/debit card. You can also mail in a check.

I am really sorry to read about Gidget, and I feel so bad that I'm not able to help with money. :(

I so hope Gidget will get the donations needed for her operation. I am sending lots of positive thoughts that she gets better and will live a long happy life.

Hugs to you, who can help her.

There have been a few donations since the last fund update on March 4th - Gidget was not in that tally.

And some words from what Gidget's mom has posted:

I did not mention that we have already spent 1000.00 on my little one and from the emergency vet, they gave her pain medication, but it has run out.

While I sit here reading through some of the unfortunate animals who are in need of IMOM's help, Gidget is sticking her little paw under my bedroom door for me to pay her some attention and meowing at me.... she's sooo cute.

Gidget is 6 months old :-).

kuhio - any word on how much is raised so far for Gidget? I know Juli only updates every few days. Would she give you an update?

Thanks!

I don't have a lot, but I sent a donation. Poor little baby doesn't deserve to suffer.

Donna ~ That is so generous of you! Especially with what's going on with Ari. Please take care of you and your own. Don't leave yourself short. That being said.... http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/kuhio98/LocketThankyou.gif

I'll see what I can do about getting a fund update and post it here.

A donor has issued a matching challenge! For every $$ you donate, they will match it! From Juli (IMOM's treasurer):

I have a Matching Challenge!!! A anonymous IMOM donor has asked me to post this challenge. This wonderful person will match $700 for $700 in donations to Gidget! That will get Gidget to All Funds Raised. We already have $465 in donations which this Angel will match. That means we only need $235 more in donations.

It breaks mine and Cooper's heart to know this baby has a broken leg and no pain medications. Let's get her fixed up ASAP!

I wish we could have given more at this. ET is my wifes cat now and yes she will hiss and growl if you move her. Bart is my boy and just a big lovable lump.

Update from Gidget's Mom: Yes, we just got back from the 6 hour drive to see the surgeon in Sun Valley. She will have her surgery tomorrow morning at about 6am. The Dr. Will call me when he is about to begin surgery and it will take about 2 hours. He said this is an extremely complex surgery and it will take a lot of maticulious actions. He said depending on how she is and how her pain is, we can pick her up by Saturday. Wish us luck.

Thank you Angels.

Even if she has a slight limp afterwards, I hope she is pain-free. She has the sweetest little 6-month-old Tabby face! :)

Gidget update from IMOM Board today at 11:50 ~ Hello everyone. I heard from the Vet this morning and he informed me that he does not think he should do the surgery due to her already healing. He has informed me she will be in pain for a little while until she heals, but she may have more mobility of the leg this way. She has lost a lot of muscle mass in the leg, but he is confident she will regain it in time.
Thank you very much everyone for all your heartfelt wishes and concernes. I am going tomorrow to pick her up.

I e-mailed IMOM's Treasurer (Juli) to find out what happens to the funds that were not used for Gidget's case. If I understand it correctly, the funds go back into the General Fund to help out another sick or injured baby. But, if you would prefer a refund, Juli asks that you e-mail her at: [email protected] and let her know.

We're still waiting to hear what treatment plan the vet has for Gidget to minimize her pain while her body is trying to heal itself.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated. I know money is tight right now.

Lisa,

Thanks for the update. I hope they will give her something for the pain while she is healing. I also hope that whatever funds were collected will go to another needy pet.

Live well Gidget!!

Thanks Donna. Yes, our donations were used for the pain medication to help Gidget while her body is trying to heal itself.

Hopefully, her family will keep in touch with IMOM so we can hear about her progress.

Update from Gidget's mom:
Well, the vet told me to wait a week and see if she actually uses the leg at all. If she does, he will not do the surgery. The pain medication I bought a few days ago, I still have and will be using that every 6 hours until she heals.
Thank you for the vote of confidence. I am hoping she will heal ok and the money left over can go to another animal in need.

Thank you everyone
I will continue to be a part of this site and when I can, donate as needed.

Update from Gidget's Mom:

I just wanted to update everyone on Gidget. Her limp is almost gone, she chases flies (and catches them), chases her sister and runs and jumps like there is nothing wrong with her now. She's a very happy kitty. Thank you everyone.
