Hi all,

I just spoke to Anna and she wanted me to let you know that they had an ice storm and she has had no electric since around 8pm yesterday evening. They are home and hanging in there waiting for the electric to come on. She missed her morning PT time and is having withdrawls :p . She wanted me to let everyone know what was going on and where she is at.

Lets send out some postive vibes that her power is restored real soon!

Ooh, sorry to hear that. I hope that she, at the very least has a fireplace for warmth (as well as four hairy dogs ;) ), and a gas stove for cooking. If not they may need to find a nice dog friendly place to stay for a while. Keep warm and safe Anna, Mark, and furkids.

I hope Anna has her power back by now. I lost mine at 3:00 AM. I couldn't sleep (so what else is new) and just finished watching a movie when the power went out. (At least I got to see the entire movie.) It flickered twice, then went out for good. I thought "Now do I call and report it or because we've had this ice storm, will they already be aware of it?" I fumbled around to find my flashlight, called and reported it because I figured that most people wouldn't know the power was out since it was 3:00 AM and they'd only know when their alarm clocks didn't go off and they were late for work. But after approx. 15 min., it came back on, which is unusual. My little town is usually the first to lose power and the last to have it restored. I have a fireplace but the thought of lighting a fire at 3:00 AM did not appeal to me.

Sorry to hear no power for Anna. I'd be having withdrawal myself. :)
Hope you get power back soon. It's no fun at all.

We'll be thinking of her! We lost power for a few minutes last night but get this - it was a planned event, AND we were forewarned by mail more than a week ago! The power company was planning some maintenance, and let us know. I thought that was great.

Stay warm, Anna! I can't imagine being in that kind of weather. Hope you're back soon. Cuddle up with those dogs.

That's great Anna got her power back! Many people lost their power here due to the ice, we were fortunate and our lights only flickered a few times. I was sent home at lunchtime. They closed the plant down due to power shortage. ;)

Phred has quite a power-outage story in his birfday thread! 30 hours, no power. But Smoke got to be the hot water bottle under the covers, and Cinder was the foot-warmer! :)

Glad you got lights and stuff again, Anna!

The next county East of me, Ashtaubla County Ohio is under a state of emergency still this morning. More than 10,000 people are sill without power.

Glad your lights are back on Anna!
Is Phred's power back on yet?? (he's a few counties South of me)

I just talked to Anna and she still has no power. The power guys got it back on for a brief period and then she said her and Mark heard a loud noise and out went the electric. She has been without electric for 37 hours now. They are keeping warm with a kerosene heater. Because they have no electric that means they have no running water so that is another problem. They have a well and they need that power to pump the water into the house :(

Keep sending some postive vibes her way in hopes that her electric is fully restored here real soon!

Yep, unfortunately, that's the way it is if you live in a rural area. I'm lucky that my power came back on. I feel for her because the house can grow cold very quickly. I've learned to have several jugs of water in reserve in case of a power outage so that I can at least wash up a little and pour water into toilets to flush them. We'll keep those prayers going.....

Well drat. :( Really, I'm surprised I didn't lose power here too. I saw all
the ice forming on the power lines & started praying. Hope you get things
back to normal quick Anna. I never would have made it as a pioneer woman.

We know the no water problem also. That is why we have a generator. Power goes off, and we wheel it to the side of the house, plug it in, turn it on - and we have heat, fridge, water and a few lights. Couple up the street from us have a whole house generator. Power goes off, it automatically starts up. Can run on natural gas or propane.

Keeping finger crossed she's back on very soon.

Well, 42 hours with no power is NOT fun:o I would have never made it as a pioneer woman either. I like my power and running water!

I have lots of pictures to share. I'm uploading them now but it will be later when I'm able to post them. I still have things to do around the house now that I have running water and unfortunately have to work all day today.

Stay tuned:D

Make that hot water for me please. We had no power several weeks ago for about 4 hours and I was ready to throw in the towel and head for a hotel. In my mind if you *made it* for 42 hours, that constitutes Pioneer Woman.

Anna I am glad you are up and running. We usually have power outtages in the summer months after a thunderstorm. My first worry is always for the refrigerator and freezer and all of the food that might go bad. I imagine you could have just taken your food outside. :p Of course no running water is horrible to contemplate. I imagine that means you can't "flush?" :o

Your right there...no flush. I did get jugs of water from my work and used the dogs old drinking water to fill the tank...lol! Hey...whatever works!

My "Pioneer Woman" Tail...

Tuesday afternoon:

Good thing I got home when I did or I might have been swimming to my front door.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e311e382a100000026109QZtWbhy0U
The weather started getting bad, Bon couldn't even see out the door because of all the ice:eek:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e31778823900000025109QZtWbhy0U

My poor trees branches were touching the ground.

Tuesday Evening:

Around 8pm I was feeding the dogs.
Bon was being a good boy and waiting for his food.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e354f3c20b00000026109QZtWbhy0U
All of a sudden the house goes black. No power.

As I finished feeding the dogs using flashlights, Mark got out our emergency candles and radio/tv/weatherband set up.
I was missing American Idol, so he was trying to get it to come in for me (what a man!)
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e3280643f000000026109QZtWbhy0U
Here ya go sweetie! It's small but it works.

Wednesday Morning:
Luckily it was my day off so it didn't really matter if my hair was fixed or anything so I just put a little make up on and slipped my baseball cap over my head.
My bathroom doesn't have any windows so I had to use two flashlights to make at least a little light (the camera makes it look brighter than it really was.)
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e32c0e43fa00000026109QZtWbhy0U
So how do I look???

I had planned on cleaning in the house since Roxey, Huney and Simba were getting groomed but since we had no electricity, it really didn't work out.
So Bon and I took daddy lunch
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e323dc828700000026109QZtWbhy0U
Then took a walk down by the river. Our walking place was flooded over:eek:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e335cd829d00000026109QZtWbhy0U
So we just walked on the bridge. Of course I had to make Bon sit for a couple pics...lol.

Then we went and picked up the kids.
Simba was tired from his long day.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e35b9303c400000026109QZtWbhy0U
And Huney, she was all smiles!
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6e34487c27700000026109QZtWbhy0U
She just couldn't wait to get home and get in the mud:rolleyes:

Wednesday Night

We went out for dinner since we couldn't fix anything at home. We were home about 10 minutes and WE HAVE POWER! Unfortunately 30 minutes later...no power:(

Thursday Morning
Still no power, so how am I supposed to fix my hair for work
This is what I came up with:o
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8dd26b3127cceb6ed9f81c21f00000005109QZtWbhy0U
Not great, but it worked.

Power didn't come back on until around 3pm on Thursday.

Luckily it's still on, but now we're having a blizzard now and I'm just praying we don't loose the power again!

Here's a few of my favorite pictures I took of the trees. I think they are beautiful. Deadly but beautiful.

w  W! Anna! I just viewed all of your pictures and you did an EXCELLENT job of capturing what has been going on in your neck of the woods. I think you should be a TV reporter part-time! I will NEVER take my electric and water for granted again! The pictures told the tale, pioneer woman!! :p :p What a cute little mastiff thingie you have in your car! I love it! :) By the way, you are pretty enough that you don't even need make-up or having your hair fixed to go to work. I think you looked terrific! Loved the pictures of Mark getting American Idol to come in for you. Whatta guy! Thanks so much for these! It really sort of *took me there!" (But I really wouldn't want to BE there. hehe!)

Wow, that really is way more "roughing it" than I would want to do. And I cannot believe you ventured outside for a walkie! What a dedicated Mom you are. The only time I would have gone out would have been to go to the nearest luxury hotel that takes dogs. But it looks like you all pulled together and had a good time.

I really LOL'ed at the one of Huney in the mud! :)

Loved your pics and the update. You know I felt for ya but I couldn't help but smile at your tale. Glad you guys survived and I hope Huney didn't ruin that cute new doo that she got by playing in the mud. The three furry ones look great after the groomer. Simba looks so cute that way. I really really like it.

As you already know I'm in the same blizzard that you are. Its awful here. It snowed all day and now I can hear the icy stuff hitting the house. I have my candles and flashlights ready ;)

You are lucky you are pretty or you would have never been able to pull off that hairdo! :p

Anna: was your power outage caused by that line of snow heading for the east coast? Because if it is it is knocking on my state's door right now and im very concerned because the high tommorow here is 38*F.

I'm sorry to hear all the trouble you went though...but I must admit I enjoyed your pictures. :D Are the freshly groomed dogs all muddy now? I want to see another pic of Simba in his new 'do. I loved the pics of Bon on the bridge. You look great too, I wish I could look that good without power or water! We've had the power off many times, and the water a few times...but I don't think we've ever had both at once!
