It is no orchid but...every year my brother gives me an amaryllis bulb for Christmas. This is the current....

Beautiful! I don't plant as many flowers as I used to but my neighbor boy, Nick, who's 10 years old, planted several bulbs for me just to be nice. What a good kid. I can't wait to see them come up this spring. And I'm sure he's anxious as well.

How in the world do all of you get those sharp colorful close ups?!!!

BEAUTIFUL!! I planted some outside where I use to live and they bloomed every year. I have always regretted not digging them up and taking them with me when I moved!

Your Amarylis is awesome - I love the colour :D I've never tried growing one - what is your secret ;)

Both you and Randi have inspired me to share my spring bloomer - it's a Pineapple plant I've had for about 20 years and in the last 5 years, it has rewarded me with a spray of brilliant colour :D

Beautiful flowers. :) Such vibrant colors. :) Tell me how on earth you keep
cats away from eating/playing with them? I can not have flowers in the house
unless I guard them every minute.

You both really have some talent with flowers :)
Wonderful!

Wow, that's a beautiful Amaryllis you have there, Sara! :) I love them, but it's been a while since I had one. I've tried to keep the onion to replant, but only been succesful one time.

This is one I had a few years ago.

And this one looks a lot like yours, Bengalz. They're a pain to replant, but I really should!

I also like Hibiscus....here are two different colours.

WOW  Randi you are amazing! Your plants are truly spectacular. I have on a few occasions tried to grow Hibiscus and failed :( - they always seem to get buggy and I can't get them clean- even with Safers Soap :( Once again, I must ask --- what is your secret?

Perhaps you might consider giving us some lessons on how to grow those beautiful tropicals :D I would certainly pay attention :D

The Pineapple is a pain to transplant but definitely worth it. They are easy to split - just cut those big roots and put them into new nutrient soil and voila ;) I have found also that they don't seem to mind being rootbound in a pot as long as you water them regularly and well. In the growing season I feed them Seaweed Fertilizer once a month - it works :D

Thanks for brightening our day with your spring bloomers - they are beautiful :)

Especially when you have the world's greatest gardeners living with you :D : My, my but Edwina looks very serious in her tumultous task of 'supervision' :D

Splendid specimens, I must say :D

They're beautiful, Sara! Is Eddie finding more critters out there? :D If only I had a balcony at least!

Bengalz, there's not really a secret to growing them, just put them in the sun - and don't over water them! Also, don't press the soil too hard around them, give the roots some space. :)

Dear sweet Eddie,
Your hibiscus is such a beautiful purple! My dad had good luck with a yellow one. Are you watching for a lizard? May I please reach through the monitor and give you the largest, squishiest hug ever? Cos when I see photos of you, I want to!
