Wow! 5 ft! Just curious, how many gallons would that be? It looks really nice. :)

Very nice aquascape! I wish my tank looked a bit more groomed, but I just buy plants and chuck 'em in there to make my fishies happy. What fish are you planning to get?

Thank you :)

I believe it would be around 90Gal

For fish. There are 9-10 platys, 2 yoyo loaches, 1 gold gourami & 3 neons that are going to ride out the cycle in it.

Once it has cycled, 2 more yoyos, 6 khulis, 6 oto cats, 4 bristlenoses, possibly a clown pleco, & and a few more varieties of platy, providing they are available (panda, red striped tiger & bumblebee platys) Although this is not set in concrete at this stage.

Perhaps if the neons survive the cycle then more of them as they really do better in larger groups. I am sure it will be great!

The 3 neons cycled in a different tank with no problems :) I've not lost a fish to a cycle ride yet. I've never done a fishless cycle, i prefer to cycle with fish, which can be done successfully, with no harm to the fish, prvided you do it right.

I will definately not be getting anymore neons, they are not really suited to the hard/high PH water that is here. These three are whats left of a school of 20 (that were originally bought for a fully cycled tank) that i will let live out their life here. They school together and there are no predators in the tank to stress them so they will be fine :)

Sounds like a good set up!

I what are you going to do with all the extra platys that will appear? :p

In my tank I only have 5 cherry barbs and 5 tetras. This sounds horrible, but I am just waiting for them to die off (naturally, I still maintain them) so I can move over to goldfish. With only ten little bitty fish my tank sure looks empty.

Any fry that survive will be traded back to my lfs or fed to the cichlid i'm thinking about getting *L*

I bought a set of 2ft T5 lights, which are now in, and what a difference they make to the front of the tank...very pleased with them. Eventually i will get a 4ft set to replace the current light at the back. But i really want to get a cannister filter for it before that.

All fish including the 3 neons are riding the cycle really well, infact their colours have never looked so good, epecially on the yoyo loaches!!

A few more weeks and i'll be ordering some Panda, Red tiger stripe & Bumblebee platys. They should set the tank off nicely. Then will come some more yoyo loaches to make up a school. Lastly will be some Oto cats & possible kuhli loaches
