When we moved into the new house, we decided to leave the ratty 'ole cat tree behind. We intended to buy or build a brand new one. This thing has been well loved by our 5. Before that, it was Kuhio's favorite place. We inherited it from Jay and Lou -- 2 kitties whose dadcat built it in the 70's (as you can tell by the orange, shag carpet). So, we took it down and left it in the garage of the old house, but the kitties kept telling us that the new house was missing something.

So, we brought it over to the new house and propped it up in the corner. After taking off our boots and coats, we turned around to see this.

Before we could even secure it, it was welcomed by Pepper (top), Willow (middle) and Willy (bottom). It's just leaning against the wall. Thank goodness it didn't fall over.

It originally came with 2 shelves, but we had to add the bottom one for Halo since she can't jump very well.

but the kitties kept telling us that the new house was missing something.

"Uh, ya think??? I left behind 2 cat trees when I left Michigan. I gave them to my friend who had let's say in excess of 20 cats. All well taken care of. She's one of those people whose house you walk into and can't tell there are THAT many cats. Grows her own cat nip. Her garden is filled with it!!

I'm glad you decided to keep the cat tree. I think it also has to do with a "familiar smell" in a new envionment.

We don't know why hoomans are so dense! Don't they know that the cat tree is the FIRST thing they should have moved? We kitties don't like new things. We like familiar smells. Here's a picture from 1985 of Kuhio on the cat tree. We didn't know her, but momcat tells us that for 17 years, she watched the birdies from the middle shelf. You'd think that a 30-year old cat tree would stink. Well, we think it smells just right!

That makes me wish that I had not thrown the Old Couch out as I think the Ctas miss that a lot, as actually do I. Especially when I look at the prices on new couches!!!
And I have seen couches going to the dump that were nice, but Im too old to haul them in.
And there are few laces that deliver these days.
Oh well maybe one day I will get us a nice futon!!!
They will love THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi fellow kitties, I want to offer you my sincerest concatulations on finally getting your real cat tree back. That is wonderful news! Even though our hoomins love us very much, at times they're pretty dense and just don't seem to get it. New isn't always better, there's a lot to be said for the old tried and true. Enjoy the fun and comfort of your cat tree!!!

Groucho
