In May of 2005, he was in that horribale explosion that left him so badly burned over 82% of his body.. This May will be 3 years since that happened. He is doing great now and recently posted this picture on his MySpace page and I had to snag it. He has put all his weight back on that he lost in the hospital and MORE and for some odd reason decided to grow a mustash. I think this picture is BEAUTIFUL and wanted to show it off!

Eddie and his wonderful wife that never left his side!

They're obviously a happy couple and it's amazing what modern medicine can do for burn victims these days. :)

Eddie does look great - and he is lucky he has a wife who stood by him during those difficult days. What a testimony to fighting to get your life back after a tragedy!

Laura, this is the first I'm learning of your son's injury. I'm with Karen, looking at the photo I would not have realized all he has been through. Bless him!

I remember - can't believe it's been almost 3 years!

Great picture - and your son is so handsome. As someone else mentioned, he doesn't look like he was ever burned.

Miracles do happen - there's the proof.

My gosh.. you would NEVER know from this picture that he had been burned so badly. I didn't know the story before either.

My very best to Eddie and his wonderful, loving wife (and his mom and all his kitty-siblings, of course). God bless you all!

He has some scarring on his face but very little. He has a scar on the bridge of his nose where his safety glasses melted but if you don't look for it, you do not see it. On the right jaw line, he has some scarring but very little so his face was pretty much spared. His upper torso, arms, hands, and thighs were burned so what was scarred is mostly covered with clothes.

For those not here when this happened, the threads are here...

I didn't know about this either but clearly he's doing remarkably well and I'm sure it's partially because he has a wonderful family as his support system. He looks remarkably well and handsome, too. :)

I remember this story very well and I am surprised and glad to see Eddie so healthy looking :) I am sure part of this miracle is the emotional support he got from his wife and you :)

(I just see that Medusa is saying the same- great minds think alike and I hadn't read her post first ;))

Regina called this evening, Eddie is having more surgery Friday, 3 fingers on his left hand and his right wirst and shoulder... ALL at one time so he will be all but helpless afterwards. She said they will go to Norfolk and spend the night Thursday since he is due in surgery about 5am. She is going to call me afterwards.

Prayers going out that he comes through and heals quickly, easily and in peace.

Oh, boy. Left and right sides, you're right about him being helpless. On the other hand, though (pun NOT intended), he would not have to go through the anesthesia a second time. Or go through rehab for his left, and then his right, which might take a lot longer than rehabbing both at the same time. I'll pray that all will go well.

Eddie had his surgery today, the fingers on the left hand, wrist on the right hand and both shoulders. They decided to go on and do both while they had him there. She said the the only problem they had was finding some useable skin on him for grafts but they managed. Quit a few of the doctors who helped take care of him in BTU checked in on him when they found out he was there. They were going to go walk to BTU after we got off the phone and I told her I doubt that anybody reconizes him now. He has packed on 69 pounds since he was in there and has that mustash.. I bet they will reconize her before they reconize him!

Glad the surgery went well- medicine can do miracles these days!
