I was at walmart Christmas shopping and this little guy was so pitiful. He is not even an inch long so a little baby betta. He is very active and fiesty and eating well. I'm hoping he (or she) gets more colorful. All the bettas at Walmart were in tiny cups but these cups were only filled about 1/3 of the way up and they were all swimming around in dirty water. I decided to get him because I knew that nobody would want a little pale betta besides me.

Beautiful Girl :)
What's her name?
Female bettas have short fins. There are some males with short fins but they are not usually found in stores.

Like I said it is a baby and it would be very hard to tell if it is a male or female yet. It is only 1 inch long.

Congrats on the cutie! I like pale bettas, especially white. Could you see any hint of horizontal stripes when you got it? Sometimes you can catch them even on a youngster if its stressed. I'd guess girl too though. Male veiltails usually have longer fins at an inch. I miss having bettas around, but my last girls didn't do too well with the buenos aires tetras and I don't have room for a seperate tank right now.

Have you though of a name? Pallid would be a cute name, it's another word for pale.

Most of walmarts females aren't bigger then an inch at first. And although not an absolute sign there is an oviposter. ;) It would look like you have a got a pretty little girl <3
