I crab sat while Andy was redecorating Aang and Sokka's newly cleaned tank.

Aang stuck close...

Last Thursday, both dissappeared into the ecoearth. I'm happy they are taking advantage of the fresh clean tank, but I miss their little escapades. Fingers crossed they have a successful molt. :)

On Friday, Andy took a shine to two PP's at Meijer's that were really active.

Saturday while running errands, we stopped by and there were three all clawing at the glass as if screaming, "Pick me! Pick me!".

So we brought all three home. :p :D

We set up the isolation tank and after the inital shock wore off, they all took turns soaking in the fresh water for at least a half hour a piece.

They are now fully buried under the earth and I hope they too have successful molts.

Here's a couple quick pics I grabbed:

No names yet, but Andy wanted to name one Dusty since they were dusty looking from the calcium sand Meijer's was keeping them in.

Oh wow. I"m always fascinated by those hermit crabs. I just think its so neat how they always live in a shell and just the way they move, its so neat!

Congrats on your new babies, I know they love their new home:D

How neat! I've never seen hermit crabs that seem to be out of their shell that much. Then again, they're just hard to find it petstores around here...
Either way, very well cared for crabs! They're pretty. :)

Awwww your hermits are gorgeous!!!! We had hermits when I was really little -- like 7 or 8 years old. We used to let them walk around the house sometimes.

Thanks all! :)

We let them wander the living room under supervision and they freak the dogs and cats out. :D

Why thank you! ;) :D

Aang and Sokka are easy to tell apart because of their size and color difference. The new guys are very close in size and color so I'm sure I'll get them all confused once they start swapping shells. :D

That is too cool.

They swap shells? What do they look like when fully out of their shell?

*googling furiously*

It usually only takes a few seconds to switch shells but on youtube there are videos. They need to switch shells are they grow. I am wanting hermies more and more :p

Like Christmas_Hamster said, as they grow they have to move into bigger shells. Also, they like to shell shop...looking for just the right shell, so it's good to offer a selection. :)

Here's what they look like out of the shell:
