I really really hope he didn't put a hole in the liner because if he did it will cost us thousands of dollars to replace it. This is the third large dog that has fallen in and the first it seems that hasn't tore the liner. He is a black lab named Tanner. He started at the deep end of the pool and was walking across the pool cover. When he got to the shallow end one corner of the pool cover fell in and he fell in the pool. When me and my mom walked outside he was hanging on the side of the pool. It took both of us to pull his 85 pound body out of there (the owner told us how much he weighed) then Gracie and Maggie were acting like they wanted to kill him, I don't see how they could they are both 1/4th his size lol. So we had to put the dogs in the house and we tied him outside on a chain. His owners were so happy to see him.I called his owners and left a message since they weren't home. They called back really worried they weren't home since they were riding around looking for him and tromping through the woods. :Clapping: She came and got him and offered to pay for anything on the pool cover or liner that was damaged. I'm happy to meet a good dog owner for a change.

We have had 3 dogs and a cat fall in the pool. The cat belonged to the lady across the street and almost died. The two other dogs belonged to my neighbor and fell in about 10 years apart. The first dog was a lab and the second their mutt that they didn't claim after it happened but they had been taking care of her for a few months. They took her to the pound after it happened.

Labs LOVE to swim; but it is a might chilly and preferable to PLAN your dips, dear doggie.

Glad the owners seem so responsible! Good job helping the dog out of the pool and finding the owners!

Glad the doggie was ok.

I'm wondering, though, do you not have a secure fence around your pool area? If not I would seriously consider it, because if a child happens to fall in your pool, the results could be horrible.

Wow, the lab is gorgeous!! Its good that you also were able to contact the owners and they were able to get their doggy back. They sound like good responsible dog owners.

I would definitely look into fencing off your pool, if you havent already. If it fenced, I would look into fixing it so more animals dont fall in. Glad you got the dog out, and his owners were able to be reached.

Aw, what a cutie he is! I think I have the only Lab that doesn't like water. I agree that it's nice to know about a good dog owner for a change. That was nice of them.

No we don't have a fence around the pool. My parents bought this house over 20 years ago and it wasn't a law back then. We haven't bothered installing a fence because there are no small kids near us. We live on five acres in the boonies. It isn't up to me to get a fence as it's not my pool. If it were up to me I would get a fence though.

Oh what a cutie!!
Glad he's okay and his owners are happy to have him back!

I'd worry about not having a fence around the pool, I'd feel horrible if an animal or person died in my pool. (I know you said you don't have any small kids near by, but you never know)
I understand it's not up to you, but if I were you I'd bring the idea of fencing in the pool up to your parents before something very bad happens.

Awwwwe, Tanner! You're so handsome! I hope your next visit to the pool goes better, though... maybe on a warmer day, with your people and a nice drink of water afterward :)

I just brought up the fence and my mom said "can you afford the thousands of dollars it takes to put up a fence" so I don't think there will be a fence. They have lived here for over 20 years and the pool has existed for over 30 with no fence. I promise there are no kids that live near. My neighbors are older and retired, the people across the street (through the woods a long way and across the street) live by themselves. And everyone else lives about a mile away. Thanks for caring though.
