I invited my grandmother over today for dinner (catalina chicken, steamed broccoli, baked potato, salad, and apples with orange poppyseed dressing) and pumpkin carving. We made the cutest pumpkin!

I told my mom and grandmother that I HAD to make a doggie pumpkin. They both doubted me. Well, when we were finished tonight they were amazed. ;)

Memaw sorting the seeds from the ickiness. We saved most of the meat/insides and I'm going to make the dogs some pumpkin biscotti. :)

Moo had to check him out. (I gave him the "up" command, don't worry!)

Kay, I love your doggie pumpkin! And I also like the glimpse of the helper by your Memaw's left elbow in the first picture. Great pics, as always!

Edited to add: Hmmm, pumpkin biscotti ... you gave me a thought ... I have a family member who dislikes pumpkin pie so I'm always on the hunt for other pumpkin desserts. Biscotti (or some other kind of pumpkin bar cookies) would work great. There's an Italian butcher / grocer not far from where I work, I'll check there.

Oh, it wasn't my grandma who cooked, it was me! :) She loves my cooking and I love cooking, so I invite her over as much as possible. I love my Memaw. ;)

Cassiesmom, for the doggie biscotti I just winged it, no recipe. I don't think I'd serve it to humans as it was pretty bland. Maybe if I added some sugar or something.
I used whole wheat flour, pumpkin puree, nutmeg, cinnamon, olive oil, and eggs with the shell. Broke them into tiny pieces, the dogs LOVE them! :) My parents handed them out to the doggie trick-or-treaters, too.
