Desperate for my Persian

My beloved Persian is getting worse and worse. Her little face is covered with the black stuff. This has been going on for over a year. I've done the bowls-using stainless. Catfood on a plate so she can't stick her face in food.Two different vets. Antibiotics (different ones,one for six weeks).peroxide, benzoil peroxide, prednizone, dexidin,betadine, fungisan,nizoral,lamisil, hydrocortisone cream, all natural-no additive cat food, a cat-food with the least amount of chicken I can find, not touching or washing her face, washing her face and neck, washing her cotton towels and bedding in hot water,bleaching and boiling them, homeopathic medicine, colloidal silver, rescue remedy, tea tree oil. Vit E (topical and internal), omega 3's, yougurt and acidophilus cod liver oil.I made a cream with comfrey and other herbs recommended.Raiki. I may have missed something. Researched on line. Talked to anyone who mentioned the word cat. People at pet stores.I have considered putting her down (I do NOT want too!)As I hold her to clean her she purrs and looks into my eyes with so much love and understanding as I clean her raw little face.how much suffering can I put her through. She is very tiny, eats well, drinks water and loves her yougurt with the oils and poops are normal. She is very quiet and reserved. She's never been very active, had to be coaxed to play even as a kitten. I've tried confining her to a room with no carpets that I can wash with natural cleaners. She does not go outside, but has a little screened porch. I have started this thread before. If anyone has heard of anything new- please,please...

Gosh you have done so much for this girl! I just dont know what else you could try?? Do you have a pic of her face, I would like to see what it looks like?

Maybe it is time for a dermatologist? Has either vet suggested seeing a specialist?

My old guy goes to the specialist, vet dermatologist.

Could it be Auto Immune and not localized disease?

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I've not experienced it so all I can offer is encouragement and prayers.

Has she been checked for food allergies? Have you tried feeding her food you make yourself? It's not always additives that cause an allergic reaction, for example, I am allergic to beef, and celery (and a myriad of other things) - it doesn't matter how organically it is produced, it is the substance itself that will make me sick.

I'd speak with your vet about the possibility of it being caused by allergies, and what he could reccomend as a starting diet, whether it be trying simple steamed fish for a week, and seeing if anything changes, or what the vet reccomends.

Poor sweet baby, how old is she?

I never had food allergies until ten years ago, and have developed a broad spectrum of them since then. It can happen to anyone at any time in their life, according to the doctors I have asked. My skin doesn't react, but two of my siblings used to get excema in response to food allergies.

Thank you all for your support. I took some pictures several months ago but need to take more and need to learn how to get them on. She will be two in a month. I had her spayed in hopes that it would help because it got worse when she went into heat.
There is no vet derm. in the area. One vet tested here as having a fungal infection also and she gets the little black spots that look like blackheads and after I apply a very warm cloth to her face, will press out to be a hardish substance about 1/16" to 1/8" long. If I don't do this she scratches herself raw. I am going to make her an Elizabethan collar (can't find a kitty one). As a disabled person myself, I do not begrudgethe time, effort and money I expend on her. But it is getting very very difficult. I have even talked to my people doctor and gotten some ideas.
The idea of steamed fish is a good one except she is one of the few cats that will only eat crunchy food except yougurt. She does not like canned kitty food or canned people tuna and salmon. I will try this again. Thank you everyone.

I wonder whether maybe she's allergic to something other than food? Does your vet think an antihistamine might help?

Your cat has IDIOPATHIC DERMATITIS which some Persians get. Our Raven has the " coffee grinds" under her chin and on the sides of her mouth. I have found that shaving the affected areas and are washed after meals. I even take a flea comb and comb out the " grinds." I add lecithin to her food and that seems to help. Most antibiotics(pills/ointments)have not helped. I am so sorry to hear that your cat is still affected by this!!!!
