It's been a year since I heard that little kitten screaming outside my bathroom window and I crawled around until I found her stuck between the wall and the stiff branch of a bush.

Here is what she looked like. Around 4-5 weeks old.

After Richard came home and searched he found more kittens under the main part of the woody juniper mound.
If you look close you can see a black face with a blue eye in the very top middle part of the picture. That was Moxie's sister Twinkle Toes.

This was either Pops who we caught that day or Decker who we didn't find until three weeks later (living under the deck with his Mom).

This is Decker when I first spotted him playing out from under the deck. We trapped him and brought him in on Oct. 30th.

Here they are all grown up now.

Their brother and sister, Pops and Twinkle Toes, were adopted together into a great home.
Happy Gotcha Day!

I remember their story - and how Moxie, being first in the house, helped to socialize her brother Decker by example! :) Decker sure was stubborn for a while.

Obviously, they are both VERY much at home - and gorgeous cats!

Were you ever able to trap the momcat?

Happy Gotcha Day, Moxie and Decker!

Were you ever able to trap the momcat?

Yes back at the end of Oct. last year. We actually trapped her quickly within about 30 minutes of trying but then Decker got wise and we weren't able to trap him until the next day.

I took her in to be spayed and vaccinated. The vet agreed she was a little too feral so any hopes of getting her into a rescue was shot. We ended up releasing her in our backyard in hopes she would stay but she shot out of the carrier, over the fence into the woods. We didn't see her again until this March and April and a neighbor said he was even able to pet her once while feeding her. I guess spaying helped to tame her a little. I haven't seen her since spring and I pray she is okay. I did the best I could for her. Only the animal control/kill shelter would accept her and they told me they would just put her down immediately since she wasn't tame.

Here's a few pictures I got of her in March when she showed up a few times. She went from thin and scrawny to healthy and beautiful.

Wow - does Moxie ever take after her Mom!

I am glad momcat was healthier and happier...maybe she adopted a family nearby - I hope so. (SOMEONE was feeding her! :) )
