Over Labor Day weekend, Andy, my sister Linn, and I headed down to Atlanta, GA for Dragon*Con (http://www.dragoncon.org). It went by so fast this year, but we had a blast.

Hey, did anyone else notice they even included someone from the Ministry of Magic? ;-)

And OMG, that guy really does pull off a believable Snape... If Snape seemed cheerful and approachable. The one that i think is playing Granger looks more convincing than the one chosen for the movies. If you go by the movie Sirius, the one there is believable too! (Then again... it's all for fun!)

Now, HOW did you get all that *stuff* to Atlanta?
You had to have been well over your "baggage limit" on the plane.

Did you ever have to "explain" any of the "hardware & weapons" to the Airport Security folks?
IF they'd opened a couple of your bags ... there might have been some serious panic
at first glance! You packed more *heat* than a well-equipped terrorist would carry!

As for the Spartans, a number of them are my friends. They all loved the movie and worked out vigioursly prior to the con.

They said Andy should do a Spartan costume next year..... and I laughed and laughed and laughed. ;)

Crow_Noir... there is a guy that does a great Snape outfit. He even got the 'death eaters mark' tattooed to his arm! I have photos of him from past years... I'll have to look it up. :) I took more photos of Harry Potter people while waiting for the parade to start.

The actors who play Neville, Fred, and George were at the con this year. :D

We drive down so we don't fuss with airports. Those that do fly will typically mail their costumes/props to the hotel or send it down with friends that are driving. :)

Plus the road trip is fun. :D

LOL! Yep, the Marriott Marquis. The convention is held in three hotels and it's outgrowing even that. :eek:

In past years there is some sort of Church convention that checks in as D*C goers are checking out. Talk about a culture shock. *laughs*

Road trips are awesome! (Vans work the best. Just the right size. Big enough for a party and TONS of storage space; small enough to park in most normal sized spots. AND unlike doing a charter tour... you can stop any time you want. "Ooooh Hey Look!!! Scenic View!")

I actually already have a Jayne hat. :D

As for the Kaylee jumpsuit, I ordered this: http://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/products_details.asp?SKU=dacmc&ST=2

Then my mom removed the sleeves, added a zipper and the top pocket, and sewed on the patches. I then got to work weathering it with black paint. :D
