10 months after Oscar came to my home - a wild kitty tamed by my then-bosses who ran the cat boarding kennel - a little fluffy black kitty who we judged to be about 8 months old was dumped on the acreage next to the kennel's.
He was being fed at the neighbour's, but the kennel owners set him up in a huge dog cage with big litter box, towels and food and water. During a busy day when the owners had to be out, I visited him, and let him out for a bit while I changed the soaked towels to dry ones, cleaned the box, and set everything back up so he had his food and water, and towels that would stay dry.
Lovely black baby with gold eyes! The youngest daughter in the family rode all over the rural neighbourhood, planting FOUND signs on all the mailboxes. I called the local Humane. The owners called other places.
No one missed him. :(
So the owners offered him to me - I had thought the neighbours would keep him. "Well," said the one owner, "they said they would take him if we couldn't find anyone." I guess the little fellow needed a place where he MIGHT get SPOILED. :D
He was black like coal, but I changed the spelling to Cole. I made his vet appt from home, the owner took him in, and I picked him up. He lived in the bathroom, and he and Oscar got slowly acquainted - but were galloping after each other in a week's time!
Here are two fuzzy baby pics, just after Cole came home. I was SURE I would have a medium-haired furbaby, but he soon exploded like a mad Chia pet! :D
He passed with flying colours at the vet today, and the vet confirmed that he was first there on September 12, 2005, aged one year.
Happy 2nd Gotcha and 3rd Birthday, Cole! My sweetheart, monkey-boy and fluffy baby! I hope you have many more years with me.
I love you, baby boy! :)
