I've been BUSY renovating my bathroom and doing some repair work in my bedroom.

There were many times I felt like I made a mistake and sold my soul to the devil.... you see the bathroom was being redone courtesy of the insurance company. I should have had a $500 deductible but after the insurance company and contractors negotiated and agreed on the $$$, the contractors and I did our own negotiations where I agreed to do a boat load of work in exchange for not having a $500 deductible AND the contractors "gave" me a new carpet for my bedroom.

I worked and sweated and I think I hurt every single muscle in my body doing the work. All the while I questioned my sanity and whether a $500 deductible and a new bedroom carpet was worth it.

I sanded the walls all by hand. I patched and spackled, and patched some more. I was starting to think the world was a haze of white dust. :p But in the end, it WAS worth it. I have an awesome new bathroom!
BEFORE:
Notice the Formica walls below the chair rail? They're gone. And what a chore that w as to remove all the glue that held the Formica in place.

To show you WHY we redid the bathroom:
Can you see the mold on the side of the tub? That went all under all the floorboards. The whole floor was soft. The bottom of the tub felt like it was going to fall through the floor.

NOW:
My new crisp, cool, fresh bathroom.

New vanity since the old one was so badly molded out on the bottom. I refinished the medicine cabinet and the storage cabinet to match the new antique white vanity (the storage cabinet came last year to hold Cameron's bath supplies)

The shower doors hubby and I fought over -- they were given to us over a year ago and I thought they were the tackiest, ugliest things I ever saw. Until they were installed, that is :o

And yesterday I finally got a chance to lay the bedroom carpet. We lived with a 12' log of carpet in the dining room for weeks now, so its nice to have it where it belongs! :D

I moved everything out of the room by myself. I had Ashley help me carry the carpet upstairs but laid it by myself and then moved everything back into the room by myself. Many times over during the day I wanted to stop and wait for hubby to come home and help me.... but then my stubbornness kicked in and I pushed forward. I wanted to proove I could do it. I was very proud of myself and hubby was too. Not a buckle or wrinkle to be found. Now I won't point out where I mis-cut along the edges though ;)

I told the contractors I wanted a nice tan carpet, and they got me this AWESOME cut and loop style carpet that forms swirly leaves.

Coming into the room:
The comforter set is my birthday gift from hubby - picked out by me of course :p

I sorely need to refinish the dresser... but after the work in the bathroom and laying carpet, I'm sure I can do it (just not any time soon - I'm pooped! ;))

I thiny you did an great job! I am sure that it was necesarry to re-model tha bathroom because of the floor wanting to cave in. It's like you sitting in the tub. You move & the thing goes flying down underneath the house lol. Again congrats on your new bathroom & carpet!

I am exhausted just thinking about what you accomplished by yourself!

Congratulations - all of it is so lovely.

Really super!! I'm sure there were a lot of details that you haven't mentioned. There are always a bunch of those. It was a lot of work, but you'll enjoy it for years. And enjoy it more because you did it yourself.

WOMAN POWER!

Wow  I am very happy for you! :D I am like you too, when I want something done in the house, I do it till its done, and I move heavy things that probably a small person shouldn't be moving, but I like getting things done when I want them done.:)

So congrats, your bathroom looks amazing!

You did a fantastic job! Everything looks great and what a deal! You are just like me, I'd rather pull every muscle in my back when I'm ready to do something instead of waiting even a few more hours for hubby to help!
