A year ago today, one of the great canine loves of my life joined the pack!

A picture from his first day with us. I had my first noise complaint that night. Anvik was very clear from the start that he did not like being alone and he was going to be a momma's boy. Even now, he is quiet when he can see me and prone to doing the "Death Howl" when he can't. I moved a doghouse up against a window so he can look in and see me when I'm inside.

It's been a rough year for Anvik. He had mysterious lumps removed in October. Exactly what they were has never been determined, but they haven't come back!

Then Heyoka headbutted him and caused a hernia in his abdominal wall and a protruding kidney. Anvik won't wear an e-collar so keeping his stitches in was a challenge. Fortunately, after two surgeries, he fully recovered and has normal kidney function.

He almost spent today at the vet. He was quiet and lethargic all night. This morning, he was still a little quiet but he was moving more, his tail was up, he was giving hugs and he was drinking normally. So I let him stay home instead of spending his Gotcha Day in a cage!

And then we got Tehya. She has loved him from day one. I'm not always sure the feeling is mutual, but he indulges her urges to chase him, chew on him, and harass him to no end. He is a patient, gentle soul.

I think he's finally healthy. He's gained a few pounds that were much needed. He's happy and silly. He stopped jumping the fence a few months ago and now only goes wandering when I let him off-leash. He is remarkable off leash, especially for a husky.

He is a total suck and utterly devoted to me. A nice change since most huskies are much more indepenant and not particularly people focused!

The dog team starts training again this weekend. Anvik will be thrilled. He's an honest dog--hardworking, reliable and he loves to run!

Happy Gotcha Day, sweetums. I am glad you're here.

Happy Gotcha Day, sweet Anvik!

Maybe your start was rough (and it's a good thing you landed in husky-heaven-on-earth so mom could take care of you)...but let's hope it's smooth sailing from here on out! :D I have loved reading every word about your trials & adventures, sweet boy! Hugs & belly rubs from our pack!

Happie Gotcha Day, Anvik!!

It's only been ONE year?
Seems like we've all endured enough Anvik crisis-es to last us all a lifetime! :p

LOL! Anvik was originally here as a foster dog. The shelter admin. called me once to ask if I was going to pay his adoption fee. I told her when the shelter reimbursed me for his 3000 dollar vet bill, I would be glad to pay his 200 dollar adoption fee. Her response was "let's consider him adopted."

I can't Believe that Shelter has the crust to CHARGE you and Stuart for
"accepting the Shelter's UN-adoptable fur-bearing Problems"!

You guys otta be awarded Tax-Free and Non-Profit status ...
not to mention Fee-WAIVED adoptions!

Anvik could be the Poster Pup for the "I came for FREE" Gang at Whispering Spirit Dawg Ranch!

But whatever he "cost" --- Anvik has a PURR-manent Home ... and seems to enjoy
telling the world he LIKES it!
Another Satisfied Resident!!

:D

The fews have been waived a couple times or we just paid the cost of altering if it was done by the shelter or the dog just kinda disappeared from their adoption list! I've looked into Non-Profit status for this place. We don't quite qualify, but someday I'm going to find a way. I'm certainly not making any money! :p

Anvik is back to his usual goofy self. Stuart said Annie puked twice today. Whatever was bugging his tummy last night has apparently taken care of itself! He's running around like a nut--there's a hint of frost in the air tonight, they are all nutty! He's wooing, playing, giving hugs and generally causing a ruckus!

He sure has had his troubles, but from the look of this picture you'd put up with as much problems as you had to for him:)
