ALSO - Cheryl from the Calgary Humane Society told me that because of these fees, the city is bringing in a no/low-cost spay-neuter program next year. :)

So far, the program has licensed 30,000 cats during the voluntary compliance period.

There are still four months left before it will be mandatory to have cats licensed.

The city says the 25 percent drop in euthanasia rates can be credited to the licensing program.

“In our shelter here this summer, we’ve had about half the number of cats we’d normally have, and the return owner rate has doubled,” says Bill Bruce from Bylaw Services.

Despite the successful program, there are still hundreds of kittens and cats looking for homes in the city.

I Will Gladly Liscence The Found Cats If The City Will Guarantee Me That The Money Will Help The Strays And Lost Cats In Hamilton. I Wonder How Many Cat People Will Lose Thier Cats Or Deny Ownership. Things Are Tough In Hamilton These Days.
I Pray That The Majority Love Thier Cats Too Much To Lose Them.
