On friday morning I see my family doctor for a checkup. Because of my a-fib, the doctor may put some limitations on my type of work. (I'm a groundskeeper at a golf course). I'm kind of nervous to find out what these will be. It could mean not workng at the club anymore. PT support needed!

Would there be anyother job you could do at the club that wouldn't be so hard on you??

Prayers on the way from me. I know how frightening that can be. :(

Connie, I'm no spring chicken anymore! Maybe 45 years at the same club is enough for me. Early retirement?

I'd do some investigating BEFORE asking for a "note" from that Doctor.

* Find out if The Club hired you for the specific job you're doing, or some general classification.

* Find out if YOU have the "right" to transfer to another job classification.

* Does the Club have any less strenuous positions that are OPEN?

* Will you receive any "Retirement Benefits" if you stop working or are
"ordered by the Doc" to stop working?

Be very careful - once your Doc writes a medically based "order" about what you can or can't do ... the Club is bound to follow that order. The "order" needs to be written so that the Club has the opportunity to transfer you to something that you CAN do, and fits in with their business plan.

You want to approach the Club with alternatives they can live with ...
so that you're not out on the street with no job.

Good Luck!
