Hello everybody :)

A quick update on Kirsten. She was admitted to the hospital today and her surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at noon.

She hasn't received any further or new information re. her diagnosis, and she's not at all happy right now as they're making her fast already.

Will post more as soon as I get the info from her.

Catty1

Thank you for the update! I guess they don't want to say any more about the diagnosis until after the surgery.

With mine, we were sure everything was benign....but the stuff was still sent to the lab to make sure. So I guess Kirsten's docs want to make sure before they say anything more. I hope it is VERY fixable, whatever it is! :)

Tell Kirsten that when I was being admitted to hospital, the line was right across from a lovely cafe they had there...the coffee smelled GREAT! So I understand about the fasting.

The good news is that for the first day, hospital food tastes GREAT!

HUGS to k!

Germany is 9 hours ahead of PST isn't it??? That would make her sir jury at 3am my time....that's in about 5 hours.

We'd better get the prayer pups on board here and get that phone line to God opened up one more time.

There's no way that it's cancer. You see, if there were any cancer cells, they've made the jump into my body so she just has to be free and clear. I just know it.....I feel it in my gut.

I appreciate the time zone reminder slick. I am on eastern time and Germany is 6 hours ahead of me. Right about now, it is getting close to suppertime and her sir jury would have been over four hours ago. I am thinking she is probably still very groggy but likely awake in recovery and maybe back to her room. It helps me to imagine just what is going on and what time of day it is.

Still thinking of you Kirsten and offering prayers from time to time. ((((HUGS))))

UPDATE, TUESDAY

Just heard from her: She had one ovary and a polyp in the uterus removed. Is (of course) feeling very tired.

Will post again as soon as I know more.

More news:
On the phone with her right now: She is also waiting for biopsi results (expected tomorrow or Thursday) + she has to stay in the hospital for 4 days.

Karen

Yay! I'm glad the surgery is done and over with and we know that it went very well. I can see why Kirsten wouldn't want to stay in a hospital for 4 days, I find hospitals so depressing and I don't like their food.

Many prayers from me, the paws, scales, and hooves.

When Kirsten can see this, I borrowed this post from another pre-surgery person who had to fast.... :)

My surgery is on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 and I was instructed to begin a clear liquid diet today. As of 5:30 pm, I have ingested only 705 calories. I have never before in my life not eaten and have learned some interesting things:

* Fruit juices have A LOT more calories in them than you think! Check the labels. If you're trying to lose weight, cut out fruit juice from your diet.
* Don't stray far from a bathroom. You will have to pee a ridiculous number of times during the day. I've already given up on wearing shorts today. I might just ditch the undies tomorrow too.
* The beginning of the day was the worst, as yesterday's solids worked their way out and weren't being replaced by any new solids.
* You don't get quite as hungry as you think you will. I mean, don't get me wrong -- you're hungry -- but it's not agony.
* Microwaved chicken broth isn't half bad -- even better, it fills you up better than anything else on the menu. It tastes better than it smells.
* Putting lemonade in iced tea isn't the same as putting lemon juice and Splenda in iced tea. It's more tart and less sweet.
* You don't realize until you can't eat how many times during the day you think about food!

For the record, my diet today and tomorrow is limited to: water, coffee, tea, soda, clear juices (like white cranberry juice, white grape juice, apple juice, grapefruit juice, etc.), chicken or beef broth, popsicles (not red), italian ice (not red), jello (without fruit), salt, pepper & sugar. Not allowed is: milk, cream, milkshakes, orange juice, tomato juice, any soup other than clear broth, oatmeal/cream of wheat, and obviously any solid food.

Can't wait to see if I'll be able to sleep through the night tonight. At this rate, I think I'll be too hungry, so will have to get up for snacks during the night. By Thursday afternoon, I ought to be good and cranky for the hospital staff!

The best thing is that the surgery is over, over, over! I know the recovery won't be any fun but it still has to better than have to worry about that surgery coming up. Of course we are still holding our breath until those lab results come in but the good news is on a roll.
