They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk:
Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.

And then I heard the father talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English

except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor

with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.

In fact you will never get any kind of job making a

decent living. People marched and were hit in the

face with rocks to get an education, and now

we've got these knuckleheads walking around.

The lower economic people are not holding up
their end in this deal.

These people are not parenting. They are buying
things for kids. $500 sneakers for what ? ?

And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit.

Where were you when he was 2 ?

Where were you when he was 12 ?

Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol ? ?

And where is the father ? Or who is his father ?

People putting their clothes on backward:
Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?

People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something ?

Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up ?

Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?

What part of Africa did this come from?

We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa .

With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.

We have got to take the neighborhood back.

People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.

We have millionaire football players who cannot read.
We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks, have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.

We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.
We cannot blame the white people any longer."

Amen! Maybe hearing those words coming out of that face will make a difference.

Unfortunately, I've heard Bill Cosby called a racist and a black hater. I don't believe he is. He loves people. He wants them to demand more of themselves. Stop making excuses. Stop blaming other people for your problems. Accept responsibility for your own life!

Amen!

Thank you Bill Cosby. That's what you would call "keeping it real " :)

On the baggy pants craze. I just cannot imagine that wearing pants that
way could be comfortable. It looks rediculous. Makes me laugh everytime
I see it. :D

That applies to a lot of people, not just blacks. I know plenty of whites who I wonder why the kids are wearing $500 sneakers (which they will outgrow in 6 months!) and they can't read or write at all, let alone speak!

Well said.

I like Bill Cosby too!!!

Everyone needs to start taking responsibility for their own actions; right Paris, Lindsay Lohan and all you Hollywood rich?

And it isn't just the $500 sneakers. The kids get XBox, Playstation, PSP, MP3s and cell phones, but they can't spell, talk or read! I agree with the prior comment: parents, spend the money on tutoring!

Wonderful speech Mr. Cosby! The sad thing is: Mostly all of it is true.

However, as true as his speech is, I must say that not every kid who has fancy clothes or electronics, can't speak well. We are a large family (6 kids) and it is rather difficult to keep 5 teenage boys and a teenage girl entertained. Yes, most of you might say "Then why don't you go out and play" or something like that. But the truth is, the world isn't like it used to be. My mom always tells me that. When she was little and bored, she would go to her backyard and climb a tree or make some mudpies to eat. However, with my brothers and I, we simply go to our xBox and play a game or call a friend or something. I know it may not be a good reason to have this 'fancy stuff', but I just wanted to defend myself. I'm not saying I am the smartest girl in the world or anything, and that I can speak perfectly, but I know that I didn't make too many mistakes in this paragraph. One of you smarter people, feel free to proof read my paragraph and point out my errors, but I'm just saying in the end: Even if I do have some grammatical errors of some sort, it isn't the fault of our xBox or parents or any other sort of electronic that we use.

I have tried walking around my house with my pants halfway down my bum, and I wonder HOW in the world these kids go around in public places like that. It is just so..uncomfortable.
