It isn't skin cancer, thank goodness! :D She has allergic dermatitis, which we already knew but we didn't know what was causing it. So. Now the process of elimination begins. Is it an allergy to food or is it environmental? I have a feeling it's food. I've never given my cats treats until just a few months ago. And that's when her problem started. I hate not giving the rest of the fur posse treats but how am I going to dispense them to the others and not Cgirl? So I'm cutting out the treats and we'll see if after the last depo shot wears off if she gets the itchy scabs back. Keep your fingers and paws crossed for my little Creamsicle. I don't even want to think about what it could be if it's environmental. How in the world would I ever figure that out? No matter. Right now, I'm going to eliminate the treats and hope for the best. I feel relieved and grateful that she dodged the cancer bullet, so it's count my blessings time.

Yes at least the worst possibility has been ruled out and now like Charlie Chan you have to eliminate all the possibilities and find out whats bothering Creamsicle. We pray thats it one of the first things that you test for and the itchy skin is a thing of the past.

Glad everything worked out with the lab results. Not giving treats is a good result :)
Maybe she could have organic type ones? I will pm you the link to a great company for natural pet supplies.

I am glad cancer was ruled out. Treats can be eliminated or changed up. Do you have an animal health food store near you. We have a few here now and they have some really good dog treats that fit the bill for Sasha. Please give Miss Creamsicle a little kiss from me!

That's a relief! Now just trying to find out what is causing it is the next step. Good luck!!!

This may sound strange and completely random, but my Aunt had a cat who had the exact same thing from...dryer lint. She now has to scrub and completely clean the dryer with each and every use...oh, and supposedly a really good treatment strangely enough for this condition is bathing your kitty in oatmeal...? According to my aunt that is! :)

Sometimes the weirdest things cause allergies. Funny, too, that you should mention that because when I was concerned that maybe I wasn't keeping the "cat area" (where they sleep, eat, etc.) clean enough, I became obsessive about cleaning and disinfecting everything. I didn't just vacuum the area, I got out every tool and vacuumed down inside the dryer door to get every last bit of lint. She still got the scabs, though. And oatmeal is very drying so I can see why your aunt would feel that way. It would dry up the scabs for sure. (Plus give Cgirl a snack for later. :p ) I do have medicated shampoo that my vet gave me for her and it helped a lot but she still ended up needing that depo shot. But thanx for the input. I'll try anything to keep my fur posse healthy.

I'm glad it's no cancer!!! Sure it may be difficult to find out what's causing the allergies, and it may take a lot of time... but I'm happy it's "just" that!

Headscritchies to sweet Creamsicle! :)

I'm so glad to hear that she doesn't have cancer.:) I've also stopped giving my cats treats and it's a little tough at first but they get used to it. Good luck.:)

I can only imagine how relieved you must feel now that the results are in and your greatest fear has been officially ruled out. Our prayers have been answered! But my prayers will continue that the cause will be found and it will be something easy to correct! Please keep us updated? And would you give sweet Creamsicle lots of scritchies and tummy rubs and smoochies from me?
