I seem to be having a bunch new or at least different critters in my yard lately.

Here's a whiteish tailed fox squirrel from a few weeks ago.

Here's a white winged cricket I found last night (I've never seen anything like this one and it's not in my bug book) The screen you see is my bug box on top of the cpu desk, I had to get a couple pix of this thing and try to look it up before setting it free again.

Then today while pulling weeds I found this grasshopper (I normally don't have grasshoppers in my yard)

Makes me wonder what kind of critter is going to show up next! LOL

We have one at work that has a solid white tail, although I have yet to get a pix of that one. I'm wondering if there is some kind of genetic mutation going on in my area or something?

Maybe you shouldn't wonder... Maybe you don't want to see what's going to show up next! :p ;)

That squirrel is neat!

I don't know if you already know about it, but here's a website my sister and her kids use to find out info on bugs. You send them the pictures and they tell you about the bug!

SO thats what kind of squirrel that is... I just thought their fur was just messed up as I thought the only breed we're suppose to have back home was the black squirrel...

Love the white on his tail heheh

My understanding is there are 4 basic kinds of squirrels (gray, black, red, fox) and from what I could decipher online, it's typically the gray and blacks that have the white tails. I don't know if this squirrel and the one across town are really rare, or just not commonly reported.

Also some areas have all 4 kinds of squirrels calling it home. I've only seen that a few times, and most areas only have 1 or 2 kinds of squirrels. In my area Fox squirrels are the dominant, although over the years we've seen a couple Reds, and one time a Black, but never seen a Gray in this area yet.

That squirrel is beautiful, I've never seen one like that. The fox squirrels we have in Florida have black heads- they're actually on the endangered species list, but I used to see them all the time at my old house.

How big is the cricket? It looks big, but I'm not sure if that's just really zoomed in

The "white-winged cricket" may just be one whose wings haven't fully developed?

I sometimes get crickets with brownish-clear wings when buying them for the frogs.

Wow, that squirrel's tail is gorgeous. And look how big his feet are! I have never seen a squirrel like that, thanks for posting it. And that picture of the grasshopper is great.
