One of the things I do to help these pups grow to be confident pups is to give them personalized play time outside fo the box away from their siblings. This helps them to be confident in new surroundings and shows that it is perfectly safe and even fun to play without mom or the siblings around. I do this daily and some times a couple of times a day. They also get group play time outside of the box where 2 or 3 at a time are running around, chasing Luca, chewing on Prince's Tail(cat) or wrestling and playing with toys. This is also a daily occurance.

Today I thought I would replace the videos I took of their first steps, on my website, and replace them with a short video of their indivual play sessions today. So as I take them I will post them. Hope you enjoy.

The first one today is Light Blue

Now Greens turn. He loves to try and kiss Prince. Prince prefers to not get puppy kisses. Unlike a lot of cats though when something annoys him he doesn't hiss or lash out. Instead he just gets up and leaves. One of the reasons why I trust him so much to help teach the pups proper behaviour around cats. Of course all supervised.

Enjoy.

Yellows turn. He basically just explores. You will see he knows where his box is and when they are unsure they sometimes head for it. But for the most part he is usually fine being out on his own.

Oh, they are so adorable. And I love Greens and Prince. Makes me wonder if my cats would be so patient?

Thanks for sharing.

Dark Blue's turn. His favorite thing is to chase Luca around. If he can't do that then he will beg us to play with him and he talks to you about it too. He is a vocal pup.

He seems much more secure on his feet than the others?

Next is Rainbow. He has a routine he always follows when he is doing personal play time. First he HAS to check out moms(Sheena's) chair. That is the old chair you see next to teh entertainment center. It is the dogs chair. He always checks that first to see if mom is there. If she isn't then he goes and plays. If she is then he gets a few face licks then goes and plays.

Last on the list is Red. As you will see red doesn't trust the TV yet. Give him time though and he will eitehr sit and watch like Dark Blue does on occasion or just ignore it.

Nicole, your days are FULL! Separate play time for each of 6 pups, group play time, making vids, posting for all of us to enjoy. WOW! But then, with these little ones around how could you focus on anything else anyway, right? And who would want to!

What a good cat you have there. Must know these are babies, huh? When I bring foster dogs in -- and these are adult dogs but not larger than the cats -- the cats hiss and hold their ground. If the dog doesn't back off, out come the claws! The dogs quickly learn to give a cat a wide berth, he he.

How do you keep track of -- this one doesn't like the TV, that one always checks for mom and gets a goodby kiss, and so on. Do you make notes? If there were 2 or maybe 3, I can see you just learning and remembering, but can you really do that with this many?

I've said before, I am really enjoying all this and truly appreciate you taking the time to share, explain, photo and video all these pups. Thanks!

Is Dark Blue the biggest? He is my favorite, out of these videos. :) Not sure why! Do all of them have homes already? Have the new families met them and named them, yet, if they do? I'm not a big German Shepherd fan, but I do think your dogs are beautiful. I'd be in trouble if I lived close enough to get a puppy. ;)

Thanks all. Prince is the best when it comes to socializing pups. He is very patient as you can see.

Freedom - I am a schedule person. Have to be with my memory problems. So to make sure that not only the pups have the time they need but also Sheena and Luca and my kids everyone is on the schedule. The only way it will work. Plus my kids are VERy involved in all aspects of this. for example in the morning while i vacuum the carpet area in the pen and get the pups breakfast ready Isaebau and Dedrick are responsible for sitting next to the door and petting, kissing, playing with and distracting the pups so they don't try to come and play with the vacuum. They are not the least bit scared fo it and think it is a toy. It is hard work but everyone needs time and so I make them all work together and they know they have time they each get. But it is all worth it.

As for how I keep track of everyone. I have a chart where I write down interesting facts everyday of the pups antics. Then at night before bed I transfer them to the pups indivual diaries. This way I know each personality and will better be able to match pups and families but also help the families to understand their pups better.

finn's mom - Yup all have homes. They have since before they were born. The families have all picked their call names and registered names. They have not met them yet. No visiting till they have their first shots at 5 1/2 weeks. After that they can visit. And no one will know which pup they are getting till they are 7 weeks old and have been temperment tested.

Thanks agian all.
