by Jon Krakauer. Awesome, would recommend it to anyone. It's about the 1996 Everest tragedy.

Biding my time till my friend, Mike Kodas's book comes out February 5th, 2008, “High Crimes: The Fate of Everest in an Age of Greed.” , I'm on the hunt for something to read.

No library carries it and the cost is outrageous!! The book is "Dead Lucky: Life after Death on Everest" by Lincoln Hall.

It's up for grabs on e-bay for a mere $54, not to mention $20 shipping, which I think is alot. Anyone know of any online book websites I can search??

Donna, "Into Thin Air" was chilling, wasn't it? And the IMAX movie that was made, based on that book, was too! If you ever have the opportunity to see it, you should.

As for reasonably priced books, Scott uses www.half.com a lot of the time and also the Amazon used book site. I have not checked either for the book you mentioned, but now I will. If I find it, I'll let you know. Perhaps we could share a copy. Just like you, I am very interested in anything written about Mt. Everest. Please help me to remember to watch for your friend's book. I followed his story very closely when you were posting his journal for us.

Yes Donna......you will have to remind us at the time when that book comes out. I think a few of us here will want a copy.

Donna I just Googled "Dead Lucky: Life after Death on Everest" and you're right, it is expensive, even used. The best price I found was on Amazon.com and even that is $57, plus $3.99 shipping, for a paperback! The problem is that the book was published in Australia, I think, therefore doesn't have a US presence. Amazon had 3 copies and one of them was "new" and it was $79!

I'll check my library for it, but I doubt I'm going to find it. As much as I would like to get it, I can't pay that much for a book!

www.chesslerbooks.com is IMO the best place worldwide for new and used books on mountaneering etc.
They offer Dead Lucky for 49.95 US$ which is not cheap either. They only charge 4 USD for shipping.

Donna...if you are looking for a great read..."Kite Runner". I overheard a conversation in an airport and bought it at Sam's Club for a few bucks.

Could not put it down and I rarely read fiction. And very timely with what is going on in the world today.
