My youngest rescue Joey is going to go to the Vets tomorrow. I feel so
bad that I didn't notice this earlier, but this afternoon he was sitting up
on the microwave & I noticed he had one wonky ear. When I checked out
his ear he had a big swollen area(like a lump but inflamed) in his right ear. :(

The way Joey held his head just looked so pitiful. he acted fine this AM.
he ate breakfast & sacked out on the couch, just like always, so I didn't
see anything wrong with him. It looks awful. :( Poor baby. I'm taking him
in tomorrow at 10:30. He's a picture if you don't remember him. Joey is on
the far right in this pic.

Is the swollen area inside or outside of the ear? If inside, it could be a polyp and it can be lasered out.

We will all be thinking of little Joey and hoping that the vet can sort him out quickly.

Thanks for the good thoughts. :) Joey has a hematoma in his right ear.
He will have surjury this afternoon & stay overnight at the clinic. The vet
thinks if she can drain, clean & tie off the area with a few stitches, he should
heal up just fine. It's strange that I never saw him scratch at his ear or act
uncomfortable at all before this. :( Joey will be able to come home tomorrow
with a e-collar & some meds. I can call them later today to see how he's
doing. He was such a good boy at the Vet's office. :)

Poor Joey, but I'm glad the vet can do something about it - even if it has to be an operation. Don't blame yourself, Liz. We all know how good cats are hiding if something is wrong.

Best wishes that all goes well, and Joey will back with you tomorrow. :)

Glad he's going to be OK.

Hiding injuries/illnesses is how cats have learned to survive. Don't blame yourself.

Yep, they're masters of disguise, disguising their illnesses, that is. Lots of prayers going out to you and Joey. He's gonna be fine.
