I recevied this in an email this morning....some of you may be close enough to help. There was a puppymill bust in Rutherford County, NC. There is a website so you can see pictures of all the animals rescued.

That's the one I would take if I could. He/she is such a cutey with the tongue sticking out like that!
They are all cute though, and I hope they all go to great homes.

This is so sad! I hate hearing about puppy mills, but I love to hear it when the dogs find great homes. The icing on the cake is when the person who owns the puppy mill gets busted! I am going to show my mom that page, and maybe she will take a look at them since we only live one state away. I really like the pomeranians and the parti-color dachshund.

I feel a little silly asking this, but I think I've misunderstood what a "puppymill" is. I thought it was an unethical breeder, but there are so many different KINDS of PUREBRED dogs (from the looks of them) here that I can't imagine they were breeding all of them! Would someone please define "puppymill" for me?

Okay, if I get this wrong, someone correct me. A puppymill does have several different breeds usually. And they are usually purebred. However, the dogs are kept in horrible conditions. Females will begin having pups at six months of age, and forced to have them everytime they go into heat. In most cases, animals are abused, neglected, and do not get correct vet care. So, the animals maybe purebred, but it is done by an unethical person.

Mugsy, I'm sure they would probably allow someone from out-of-state to adopt. You can always call and ask. The number is on the webpage.

Smilla, go to the website www.prisonersofgreed.org and you will see what puppy mills are. Dixie is right. They are pure breed dogs, but there are many different breeds and the dogs are kept in cages...they never touch the ground unless they are rescued from their hell. I was horrified the first time I saw pictures and wanted to prosecute the idiots that run these things. also www.hua.org is the shelter in Nebraska that is fighting these mills and they have many mill dogs for adoption.

What is wrong with its eyes? I'm sure its a Pekingese, but The poor puppy's eyes need special care. They could easily be damaged. I hope a good owner rescues him/her and gives him/her the life it deserves.

I wish I could adopt them all but this one took my heart also....http://www.found-pets.org/rutherford/rv371.jpg The poor little Maltese puppy is behind bars on a piece of broken wood. HOW AWFUL!!!
