I recieved a foward on Monday from the Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue (another dog rescue I work with). It was so sad. It was about a mama cat and her four babies. They were taken to Bolingbrook animal control on July 14th, the babies were freshly born. They have sat there for over 10 days, just awaiting death. So, what should I do? Well pull them of course!!

A new beginning for a new family. I could not let them be put down. I actually managed to walk out of the Bolingbrook pound with only the ones I went to get. You all know what a sucker I am for a meow, or 12!! I had to walk out before I took a handfull (or two) home with me. I will be going back there in a couple of weeks to pull some other ones, but for now I wanted to share these cuties with you.

The mama, who I don't know what to call, (little help on this one guys) is so sweet. She just wants to be loved and loved and loved some more. The babies are 12 days old (guestimating). It looks to be 3 girls and one boy. Not sure yet. There are 3 gray and black stripped tabbies, and one all black tabby (I think it is a girl). Here are the pics I was able to snap today. Mama is a good mom. Always caring for her babies. It seems she was a pet, as friendly as she is. If she was feral, she would not even let me touch her. I am guessing whoever turned her in was the owner, though they said she was a stray. I am doubtful of that. So here are the pics....

I Have Les.
Is There Anything Sadder Than That Momma Cat And Her Kittens Facing An Uncertain Future. I Wish That I Could Take Them Into The Hotel.

I am not sure if Lady fits her. She is quite affectionate, and loving like Lady, but it just does not seem to fit.

Thanks everybody for you nice words. I hope these kits thrive and get big and strong. I know they will find great homes.

She looks very noble and regal, like a mountain cat. Maybe a nature-y name, like Sunshine or Zephyr?

Love, Columbine

Thanks for the nice comments. I am not sure about the name still. She is very sweet. Except she is VERY protective. I had her cage open the other day and was petting her, I also had the bedroom door open. Well she spotted my cat, Midnight, and bolted out of the cage before I could even attempt to close it. She was attacking him and would not let up. I took a box and put it on her so he could get away. Then I picked her up and put her back in her cage. From now on, door stays closed!! Nobody was hurt thankfully.

She'd attack a cougar to protect her babies!

How about Xena, warrior princess? :)

Diana - Roman goddess of the hunt.

Athena - Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. She was the favorite child of Zeus.

Bellona - an Italian (Roman)goddess of war

AAAAAWWWWWWW I am in tabby heaven seeing all those stripes. Tracey, what can I say. You have a heart of gold girl. Thank you and bless you for pulling these precious babies and their mama and CONGRATULATIONS on being strong and not taking on more than you can handle at one time. :D

I'm sorry that poor Midnight got the brunt of mama's protectiveness, but very happy to hear that there were no injuries.

Good luck and I pray that loving forever homes are found for all of them.

Catty1 -- I guess it is that whole motherly thing....no harm no foul. By the way, I LOVE IT!! Bellona is perfect. Considering I am Italian...it seems to fit. She will be called Bella for short.

rg_girlca -- Thank you for being so kind. It really isn't too much having them here. I only have one other rescue kitten now, the other is going home today. And just the one mama and pups. I know better now not to get too in over my head....I am being very careful on how many I take in.

Bless you for taking this beautiful family in! Mommycat is beautiful and her babies are way too precious. It sure sounds like Bella is a very attentive and caring mommy. From you they'll learn what it means to be loved and cared for. Their furever families are going to have beautiful and loyal companions before long. Please let us know how they're doing?
