Did I ever mention that I love cheetahs?? :)

A while ago, there was a BBC docu by Simon King on German tv, telling the story of the cheetah cubs Toki and Sambu whose mother was killed by a lion, and who were brought to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenia and hand-raised by their care takers. When they were old enough, they were taught step by step how to live and survive in the wild.

I fell in the love with the cheetahs immediately, and at the end of the movie, I was heartbroken to learn that Sambu has been killed by lions. He was only two years old.

His twin brother Toki was devastated and shattered after the attack and the loss of his brother (cheetah brothers often stay together all their lives), and when he was on his own, he was soon attacked by three cheetah brothers and almost killed.

After his recovery, he was brought to another conservancy. There was another BBC docu on him aired here tonight, which showed his adventures after Sambu's death. I don't know what he is doing now, but I hope he's still fine.

Here's their story, and many pictures: www.lewa.org/cheetah_orphans.php (http://www.lewa.org/cheetah_orphans.php)
