Since we did the "Tough Guy" thread....

What actor/actress performed in a role that drove you crazy?

I mean crazy like I-still-yell-at-the-screen role?

My all time fave is Juliet Lewis in Cape Fear!

I wanted to slap her so bad...especially when she was in the auditorium with DeNiro...

About two thirds thru the movie I realized that I was talking to the TV...That made me realize what a good actress she was...she hasn't done any thing else I liked, but that ROCKED! :D

At the risk of sounding like a total nerd...

I loved Kate Mulgrew as Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek Voyager. She did a very good job at making the character convincing. Her acting really helped me get into the show a lot more than other Star Trek series (No I'm not sparking a what captian is better debate ;) )
Another convincing role that comes to mind is the lead female role in the first (the VERY first) Night of the Living dead movie. She really had you going that she was in fact, the dumbest woman on earth. :D

Paul Newman in Cat on a Cat Tin Roof is my all time FAVORITE movie. If only he were single and I were older. *sigh*

Seven Years in Tibet with Brad Pit. That's a really good movie. I was surprised I liked it because I don't usually go for those type movies.

He played a transexual football player named Roberta Muldoon.
And as Emiliano Lizardo in Buckaroo Banzai-that was a real dumb, but funny movie!

Oh, I agree 100%! He was absolutely great for the part.

And I'm sure you'll know what I'm gonna say...

Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. Seriously, if it weren't for him acting as the total jack a$$ pirate I probably wouldn't like the movie as much as I do. He plays the part so well, and I don't know, the character seems so much like me. Yes, I am admitting I'm a jack a$$ ;) :p

I also like Reese Witherspoon in Sweet home Alabama. There's not really a particular reason, but she just plays the part good.

Ricardo Montalban as Khan

Harrison Ford as Han Solo

ALan Alda as Hawkeye Pierce

George C. Scott as Patton (He was better as Patton than Patton was as himself, in reality George sounded like a whiny kid)

Donald Sutherland in "Kelly's Heroes" (Okay, the entire cast of Kelly's Heroes, but the best line in the movie is "Always with the negative vibes, Moriarty, always with the negative vibes!")

John Wayne as Donovan in "The Fighting Seebees"

John Belushi and Dan Akroyd in "The Blues Brothers"

and again in Primal Fear.

In both of those he makes me cringe, but I just can't look away.
He is fantastic!

Reading all these lists...I start remembering the whole movie. I love movies....

OK, this is perhaps the weirdest suggestion, and if I hadn't actually seen the movie, I would have said "no way could this guy do this part"....but Al Pacino played Shylock in "The Merchant of Venice" (2004 version) and he was so good, I was cheering at the end when he doesn't get his pound of flesh.
And Lynn Collins plays Portia and she is brilliant - a native Texan who pulls off a great Shakespearian role.

I have to agree, he was great as Shylock. That whole movie was a very pleasant surprise.

Oh my goodness....

I love quirky, "low" budget movies.

This one had three ALL-STAR stars and roles.

The Professional- Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman.

---------------------

Raising Arizona- Nick Cage.

Raging Bull-De Niro.

John Turturro keeps turning up in some of the best roles in offbeat movies. A favorite is his trash talking bowling creep character Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski.
The more I watch that movie, the more I laugh - Coen Brothers stuff is truly funny.
