We had a huge spruce that was too close to our deck and house that needed to be cut down years ago but finally this spring we did it and in part of it's place we added on to our deck.

Taken last summer of the tree.

This was taken while my husband was in the tree cutting it down. We did it all ourselves - with no injury or damage!

Afterwards - the new deck addition we built. I'm very proud.

After that we finally got around to putting in a new floor in the sunroom. The old parquet was very faded and scratched.

Before - the best pictures I can find of the old flooring.

After - the new stone look laminate we did ourselves (and didn't get a divorce!)

Decker offered to model it for me.

I just wanted to share our projects and hard work with everyone. :)

YAY It looks great :D

It sucks while you are doing all the work but it's so satisfying once it is all done isn't it.

I'm sure you will enjoy many hours sitting on that beautiful porch :D

It all looks wonderful! That Decker is shaping up to be quite a little hoot, isn't he? I love the one where he is looking under the tube he is in. :D Quite the poser.

Wow!

Really nice! Its amazing how much s-p-a-c-e you have in your houses - Front garden, back garden at the side maybe as well!!!!!!

Well too bad in Malta space is limited!!!!!!! I only have a small yard but my bedroom is overlooking my mum's garden :) which I love!

It's the laminate sheets/planks that are about 4 feet long. We started installing it wrong and wasted hours but once we figured it out it went in fairly quickly. I just hope it holds up. That room is mainly the cat room so it gets a lot of wear and tear.

The deck and sunroom floor look so pretty Lori! I bet that tree removal was quite an undertaking  The results are amazing. I bet the house seems sunnier too doesn't it? I really like the pretties you have along the shelf outside. Nice area to sit and relax!

Yes, it is much brighter from all the sun the tree is no longer blocking (kind of hot from that aspect) and from the new lighter floor -which I love.

I really prefer softscapes (the tree) to hardscapes (the wooden deck) but the tree was just too close to everything. The people we bought the house from planted it over 15 years ago. It was their Christmas tree one year.

Now I'm trying to talk Richard into getting a little hot tub for the concrete area below the new deck. It's nice and private there so it would be perfect. :D
