Some of you may remember the stray kitty I posted about some time ago. Yes, she has kittens - two of them. I saw them for the first time yesterday late afternoon, down at the building site. The mom was laying on a piece of plank and they were suckling. In my opinion, they must be at least a month old. They look healthy and are very playful.

I called my neighbor around the corner and we both took some food and water down for them. Today, I talked with the girl in the yard who does the gardening and all sorts of odd things - she has 3 cats herself. She said, it shouldn't be difficult to find homes for the kittens, and agreed with me that the mom should be sterilized.

When I mentioned the cat to her some months ago, she wasn't very keen on calling "Kattens Værn"* as she was afraid the kitty would be put to sleep.

* An organizasion who trap, neuter, vaccinate and ear mark stray cats, and put them back - provided someone will sign a paper that they will be feeding them for the rest of their life. To have them do that, you need a requisition from the owner of the building and pay DKR, 100,-

I haven't seem the mom or kittens all day today, my neighbor and I have just been down to look for them - no luck. I think she's in the other yards as well, and someone there may feed them too.

Here's a few pictures.

No danger, it seems, so down with the grub.

Seems the mom had caught a mouse for them to play with.

Awwww.... what beautiful babies they are!! I would say they are more like 2-3months. Maybe even older depending on size cats they are. My Cow who is 4 months is about that big, and chunky is bigger. I hope you can catch them and tame them a bit and find homes. Deffinately get mom spayed too.

Now, here's a mystery... I took some pics of the mom 14th April on the scaffold outside my window, so these kittens could be 2 months old at the most - unless she gave birth before they were taken, but I doubt it.

She does look a little big in the third picture in the thread, but do you think she was about to give birth?

I do wonder how old they are now, and where she hid them for so long!

AWWWWWW those babies are adorable and to me, they look about 3 months old. Mama looks like the female version of my Poppy.

I hope that you are able to trap them all and find good homes for them.
Also, mama has cleaned herself up very well.

Good luck with these 3 Randi.

For a moment I thought the mom was Lorraine's Poppy. What a beautiful cat and adorable kittens.

I just looked at your other thread and yes, she did look a little big in the last pic. Maybe she had given birth recently. When I first saw the stray momma cat in my yard I thought she might be pregnant but she never got any bigger so I didn't worry but I soon discovered it was because she had already given birth when little Moxie kitten got stuck and started screaming her head off.

The mother sure is gorgeous and the kittens are adorable.:) Is the mother friendly at all or is she feral? It sure would be nice if they all could find loving forever homes. Do you think that Fister would accept a kitten in his household?;)

Oh they are adorable! And mommy is a good one. Poor babies, I don't like seeing them in the street :(

I think the toy is a rat....except if you have giant mutant mice in Denmark :)

To me they look older than 2 months-old. I would say 3 months old. We have 8- and 10-weeks old babies at the shelther at the moment, and they are really smaller than these two.

Would there be a rescue shelter other than the one you mention that could take care of them? Somewhere else in your country, even further...
I am thinking about this because at the shelter where I volunteer in the NL we sometimes help each other with donations or exchanging kitties when we are too crowded. We did it with our Belgian and German neighbours.

I was getting a little worried, as I've seen the mom cat two times this past week, but not the kittens. So today, I went to ask around, and it turns out that they're living happily in the workmen's huge shed. It's below the "office" and has a wooden floor and lots of places to lay around. I spoke to the office woman and a few others, and it seems that one of workmen will take the kittens when they close it all down in October. Not sure he'll also take the mom, but in any case we'll find a solution - and at least get her sterilized.

What a beautiful kitty family! And it's great to know they're safe inside rather than out in the elements. Bless you for caring enough to help them!

Since my last update, a third kitten showed up, looking very much like these two, but slighly bigger. Then, a white one with black patches appeared about a month ago.

We were hoping to find homes for them in our area, but unfortunately we haven't succeeded. However, we noticed that someone else had started feeding them and found out it was a lady living quite close. She fell in love with the white one and has now taken him. :)

Well, we had to find a solution, because the containers will be moved within the next few weeks and the kitties would have nowhere to hide/sleep. We arranged with the Cat Rescue to come yesterday. My neighbor and I went down to help trap them. They were all in the workmen's shed, so we closed the door and put the trap inside with a bit of yummy food. One came to sniff and put the paws up on the cage first to check what this strange thing was, and a few min later, she/he went inside. The woman had a long string attached and lowered the plank without hurting the kitty. The kitty was confused, of course, but didn't really freak out. We put a huge blanket over immediately and put the kitty in the van outside.

The two other kitties were there to see what happened with the first one, so I didn't expect any of them to fall for that trick again, but the next one walked in and was also trapped - same procedure. Then, the smartest one was left - the Cat Rescue woman didn't expect that one to go in, but we put the trap outside and kept a distance. The cat came to sniff but didn't go in, and to our horror, the woman said that she would leave the trap inside and come back in the morning to see if the kitty had gone in - uhh, we didn't like that, so we kept chatting with her by the van to buy some time, and just a few minutes before the workmen would close it all and leave, we went inside to check. The kitty had gone in. Phew!!

We're glad they went together, they would have missed each other, not to mention them being alone and scared. The Cat Rescue is not very far from where we live, so we arranged to go and say Hi to them - we will tomorrow. She didn't want us to come the first few days. The plan is they get neutered/spayed, vaccinated etc. and find loving homes. Once people see them, I don't think they can resist. ;) I hope there aren't too many kitties there!

We're also going to talk to them about being volunteers.

Great job, Randi! It's good to know that these lovely kittens have a chance of good homes. I think you would make a great volunteer - you have such good trapping skills. ;)

:D What a kind gesture, for these poor widdle ones and their Mom. I hope you let us know if the furry ones are adopted and cared for. You and your neighbor are good rescue ladies!

I love the photos of the kittens! So adorable! Good thing I live so far away.

I didn't read what happened to Momcat? Was she trapped also?

Sounds really good for all the kitties, before the shed gets moved! :)
