Hired An Office Assistant

I have lots of work lately so I hired an office assistant. Her first task is to take care of filing.

Hmm, I was thinking of taking on someone to help with the filing myself. Perhaps they just need a change of scene. What do you think? I could offer them a temporary contract and see whether it works out.

At least they are not at the keyboard, playing the "nip at your fingers" game while you are trying to type like Samantha does. Ever try to type with a kitty trying to nip at your fingers as you use them? (It means it is time to STOP what you are doing and PLAY WITH ME!)

The file clerk looks like she is on top of things but her back up is just using her own back!!

They must have come from the same agency as the one I hired. He only wanted to notify me when faxes came in; he'd run and watch it, then run to tell me. I didn't need that service but he was cute so I kept him on but I reassigned him. Now he lies under my desk lamp to make sure it's warm enough.

I think she misread your ad. I heard that she thought the job was for someone experienced in shredding (as in sensitive materials). She read it as experienced in shedding. Quite possibly, though, your new assistant might also have some shredding skills as well. Nevertheless she would probably benefit from a pair of spectacles. :)
