This past Sunday we had a HUGE brush fire on some scrubby land behind my neighborhood. Police suspect arson, but I'm not sure if they actually tested for propellants, etc. or by what means they came to that conclusion. I know the cops were actively questioning anyone who was standing around and watching as that is common behavior for an arsonist.

The following news blurb has a link to a video which shows some pretty amazing helicopter footage. You will notice that 38 seconds into the clip you see the flames licking above the buildings….these are the condos directly across the street from our house and we could see these flames from our living room. It was terrifying!

Poor Kirk, my dog, was completely petrified. He was even more upset than my cat, Nipo, who freaks if we even slightly burn toast! We had walked Kirk in that area the morning of the fire! So it has been slow progress to get him back to his regular walking schedule again because all the animals are on edge with the strong smoky smell that is permeating the neighborhood. However, today I was able to coax him to take one of our regular walking paths around the perimeter of the damaged land. I took some pictures to share. These shots show just a tiny part of the 15 acres that burned....

Thankfully NO ONE was hurt...and there was very minimal property damage. The firefighters did an amazing job!!!

Wow how scary! I'm so glad your house was spared. Oh, and by the way, Kirk looks just adorable :)
